Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, the Danish actor, producer, and screenwriter is well known for his controversial role as Jaime Lannister from the legendary TV show, Game of Thrones. Through his convincing portrayal of this character, he has managed to take us on a roller-coaster ride. There are instances in the show when you feel pure hatred for his role. Then there are those intense moments when you notice a change of heart in his character, and you want to empathize with him and call it a truce. Whatever may be your view about his role in this TV show, but we all know and agree with one thing for sure – Nikolaj is a total badass and we all love him for that.

So, on his birthday, let’s have a closer look at all the iconic moments from Game of Thrones that will clearly show the gradual transformation of Jaime Lannister – the one who is slowly taking over our hearts, if not the Seven Kingdoms.

Jaime and Cersie’s relationship
This is where the wildfire started. Their incestuous relationship brought out the crude side of the show and made us wary of the madness that was going to be introduced to us in the reset of the seasons.

The fall – the things they do for love
Every action has a reaction. And this was Jaime’s reaction when he pushed Bran off the tower to keep his affair with Cersie under wraps.

Jaime and Ned Stark’s intense talk
When Ned Stark got too close to finding out the reality – this is their version of “trash talk” before the sh*t hits the fan.

When Ned Stark was captured
The price that Ned had to pay for capturing Tyrion Lannister. If only he knew what the future holds.

Mocking the authority of Catelyn Stark
She came to give him a piece of her mind and to set him free, only to ensure the safety of her daughters. But he still managed to piss her off by reminding her of her husband’s lack of virtue.

Did a good deed, but Karma strikes back
Jaime and Brienne of Tarth were captured by Vargo Hoat. When Vargo’s men tried to take advantage of Brienne, Jaime tried to talk sense into them. Which later costs him his hand. Karma?

They called him the King Slayer
When he pours his heart out to Brienne and tells her why he killed the Mad King.

Last moments with Joffrey
Death of a potential Mad King, but for Jaime and Cersie, he was their first-born. That ought to bring out some pent-up anger and frustration.

The Oathkeeper
After Ned Stark’s death, his mammoth valerian steel sword was melted and two swords were formed. One for King Joffrey and the other for Jaime. But Jaime choose to pass it on to Brienne and give her the Knight respect that she deserves (Awwwww!). He also makes sure that she keeps her oath to Catelyn Stark by protecting Sansa Stark.

'Making frandship' with Bronn
Even with one hand, he goes ahead and sharpens his sword fighting skills. All thanks to instructor Bronn.

If you love someone, set them free
When he helped his brother Tyrion escape from prison, when he was falsely convicted for the ultimate treason, poisoning King Joffrey. We all are grateful for this moment!

Last moments with the kind daughter, Myrcella
That difficult moment when he tries to confess to his daughter, but she already knows the truth! Instead of anger, this scene has love – the father-daughter kind. Too bad it only lasted for a couple of minutes. Why do nice people die?!

That intense moment
Whenever Brienne and Jaime meet, you see fireworks. This is the scene in which Brienne tells Jaime that she will have to fight him if Blackfish refuses to give up on Riverrun. We all know how painful that would have been!

When he gets home to see even more destruction
The death of his last child, King Tommen, genocide of the Faith and the powerful, Tyrells, and crowning of the new queen of the Seven Kingdoms, Cersie Lannister. That would have been too hard to handle.

But all in all, it was a good progress. We all hope to see more fireworks between Jaime and Brienne. It would be something if that works out! So, which was your favorite moment? Don’t forget to comment and let us know!
