We all have that one Bollywood movie which was a huge part of our childhood. Actually, most of the movies that released in the 90’s are a part of our memory. There were movies that we saw in the theater, multiple times because the movie had our favorite actor or our favorite song.

Viewing movies in the 90’s was the experience that people used to make a day off. The typical cold drink, popcorn, and samosas were enjoyed during the movies with the family. We’ve always adored Bollywood and it’s people like our own.

Here are some of the scenes from Bollywood movies that are, were and will always be special to the kids who grew up with them. We grew up watching Anjali and Rahul fighting, we grew up on Prem singing on the beach and Govinda asking what is your mobile number.

1990- Agneepath -“Waqt pe pahuchne ka apna purana aadat hai”

Agneepath is the most iconic movie ever made. There was a scene when Vijay (Amitabh) meets Kancha (Danny) at the shore and says “Waqt pe pahuch ne ka apna purana aadat hai.”

1991- Lamhe -The medley song

The 1991 movie starring Anil Kapoor and Sridevi was on a concept that was criticized as well as acclaimed.  Apart from the beautiful title track, the movie had a scene where Puja (Sridevi) is cheering Virendra (Anil) along with Prem (Anupam Kher) by dancing to old songs. It is a delight to watch.

1992- Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander -When they win

Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander

This was probably one of the first sports movies we saw. The ending of the movie was probably the most engaging endings we have seen. We’re pretty sure that after this movie, the sale of BSA bicycles went up.

1993- Baazigar -When Shilpa Shetty is thrown off the roof

‘Har ke jeetne wale ko, baazigar kehte hai’.

That mini heart attack we all had when Shah Rukh Khan pushed Shilpa Shetty off the roof is something that we might not forgive anyone for.

1994- Hum Aapke Hain Koun– Papad Scene

hum aapke hai koun

What was not iconic in this movie? We mean, even Tuffy was loved by the audience. Sure, back then no wedding was complete without ‘Didi tera dewar dewaana’. Talking about weddings, there was this papad scene which was re-enacted in real life too!

1995- Dilwale Dulhaniaa Le Jaayenge– Palat

Well, she did turn around. However dramatic we think it was, we fell in love with the couple. There might not be one 90’s kid who didn’t try this line on his girlfriend.

1996- Khiladiyon Ka Khiladi– Undertaker scene

Just to refresh your memory, the movie ‘Khiladiyon Ka Khiladi’ saw Rekhaji and Akshay Kumar as a couple. Famously, The Undertaker was featuredin the film but decades of rumors were put to rest when it was made known that an imposter of The Undertaker was brought for the scene.

1997 Border- When Suniel Shetty said “Ye dharti meri maa hai sir, isne meri maa ko gaali di hai”

It’s difficult to cherry-pick one particular scene in Border because of its rare tendency to create situations and characters that evolve as the movie progresses. In a narrative as this, every scene ends up becoming meaningful. Add a top-form Suniel Shetty to that and you have India’s greatest war movie. However, when we think of Border, the fight scene between Mathura Das and Bhairon Singh is still etched in our memories like it happened last evening. Go watch the scene on Youtube. And then watch the entire film.

1998- Kuch Kuch Hota Hai -When Anjali leaves

kuch kuch hota hai

“Kuch kuch hota hai, Rahul. Tum nahi samjhogey. “

Well, apart from Rahul-Anjali ka jagda, we have a lot to remember from Karan Johar’s first film. We all know at least one person who cried when Anjali left Rahul after accepting that Tina and Rahul love each other.

1999- Taal-When Aishwarya reminds Anil Kapoor about the contract

Taal was a magical movie, wasn’t it? We loved everything about it, from the songs to the moves. There was another small relevant and strong message that this movie needs to be remembered by, Aishwarya Rai chose her career and was very determined about it. There is a scene where Anil‘s character is taunting Aishwarya about her past with Akshaye Khanna’s character. She shuts him up and it’s pretty cool to see that happening.

2000- Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai– When Rohit sees Sonia do makeup at the traffic signal

kahoo naa pyaar hai

This movie gave Bollywood its Greek God and even if we don’t admit it, we all tried to nail the ‘Ek pal ka jeena’ step. Their first meeting was at the traffic signal and it was all kinds of cute. Hrithik and his brother were waiting for the signal to turn green and they look on their right to find Ameesha putting lipstick and a fake mole. Then Ameesha looks at them and to her surprise they suggest her to remove it. Also, it was how Hrithik met his now ex-wife Susanne for the very first time.
