In Bollywood, few things are as much a guarantee of success, as multi starrer films. The thrill of seeing multiple actors share screen space makes for an intriguing viewing, and because all the actors’ fans watch the film, it usually makes merry at the box office.

However, there have been multi starrer films, which, despite their multiple stars, could not become hits at the box office. Let’s talk about some such films-

#1 Ab Tumhare Hawale Vatan Saathiyo

Ab Tumhare Hawale

This film had Amitabh Bachchan, Akshay Kumar, and Bobby Deol– but failed to resonate with the audience.

#2 Eklavya- The Royal Guard

Another Amitabh Bachchan multi starrer that turned out to be a dud; this one had Saif Ali Khan, Sanjay Dutt, Vidya Balan, Jackie Shroff, and Boman Irani. Oh, and it was India’s official entry to the Oscars that season.

#3 Insan

The team of Khakee- minus director Rajkumar Santoshi and a certain Amitabh Bachchan, reunited for this ill fated action drama.

#4 Elaan

This revenge drama had Rahul Khanna, Arjun Rampal, John Abraham, Lara Dutta and Amisha Patel. The only good thing to come of this film was the return of Mithun Chakraborty.

#5 Kaal

This one had Ajay Devgn, John Abraham, Vivek Oberoi and Lara Dutta- but this ‘horror’ film met with a truly horrific fate at the box office.

#6 LoC Kargil

Loc Kargil

JP Dutta tried to revisit the Border formula, but created a royal mess of 32 actors playing the Indian army.

#7 Ramgopal Verma Ki Aag

This Sholay remake had Amitabh Bachchan (yet again), alongwith Mohanlal and Ajay Devgn. But the film is widely considered to be one of the worst Hindi films ever made.

#8 Great Grand Masti

great grand masti

Ritiesh Deshmukh, Vivek Oberoi and Aftab Shivdasani reunited for the third instalment of the sex comedy franchise. But this one bit the dust.

#9 Jaani Dushman- Ek Anokhi Kahani

Jaani Dushman

Roughly 10 actors probably regret doing this ‘film’.

#10 Tashan

The film had Akshay Kumar (who was on a hot streak at the time), Saif Ali Khan, Kareena Kapoor, and Anil Kapoor, but it was so bad, that it was actually good.

There are plenty of more Bollywood films which did not work at the box office. Which ones do you remember?
