Prem means love, and we all love Salman Khan. This name has become synonymous with him. He has played 'Prem' more times than Prem Chopra has delivered the dialogue, "Prem naam hai mera, Prem Chopra".
Prem is not just a name, he is the god of ideal men (almost all the times). He is the most obedient son, he is a super hero father, he is a loving brother, an honest lover and the best friend. He is always an all-rounder. He has a good balance in life and in his accounts (in rare cases, if he doesn't have the money, he compensates being dil se ameer). He is the person who is always right and follows the ideal path. Tots <3!
So, on the auspicious occasion of the first anniversary of the last Prem movie – Prem Ratan Dhan Paayo, which is also the 15th Prem played by Salman Khan, lets go back in time and have a look at all the Prems straight from 1989:
Maine Pyar Kiya – Prem Choudhary (1989)
The debut of Prem. The first and the only, Prem Choudhary. He was the first Prem of all. A true lover, Prem.
Andaz Apna Apna – Prem Bhopali (1994)
This Prem is the odd one out. He is not an all rounder but sure aims to be. While he is 'dil se ameer', he day-dreams to become rich by marrying a wealthy heiress.
Hum Aapke Hain Koun – Prem (1994)
Back to the typical Prem, sacrificing son, obedient brother-in-law and the most romantic lover. Because, it is always a happy ending.
Biwi No.1 – Prem (1999)
This one was a little twisted, but Prem is Prem. He loved his children and mother the most. He got a little swayed with the charm of Miss Universe but 'subah ka bhula agar shaam ko ghar aa jaaye, toh usey bhula nahi kehte'. This time, you call him Prem.
Hum Saath-Saath Hain – Prem (1999)
There are Prems and then there are Suraj Barjatiya's Prems. Those are like the Prems of Prems and this one is the most Prem-like Prem that Salman Khan has ever played. Know what i'm saying?
Kahin Pyaar Na Ho Jaaye – Prem Kapoor (2000)
Again, the love scene. The love of Prem's life betrays him and he lets her go. He falls in love again and lets this one go too. Until, he finds out that she is the one for him. He finds her and marries her.
No Entry – Prem (2005)
After eight Prems, another odd one was mandatory. This Prem was married to a very loving girl but used to flirt a lot. It doesn't take too long for him to realize his mistakes and actions.
Partner – Prem (2007)
Even being the love guru doesn't stop him from bring Prem. He falls in love with a single mother and marries her. No matter how much of a 'cool dude' he is, he is a total family person.
Marigold – Prem (2007)
Another beautiful story where his hospitality skills are explored. He plays the son of a king and follows the saying 'Atithi Devo Bhava'. He sacrifices his love in this because of his parents but again, all is well that end's well.
Ready – Prem Kapoor (2011)
No matter what, the love quotient in Prem remains intact. He is quirky and mischievous, makes everyone's life a mess, but all for the greater good.
Prem Ratan Dhan Payo – Prem (2015)
The last one so far, but not the least. This Prem is a look-alike of King Vijay. He gets a chance to be at the king's place but he doesn't cheat. The only thing that remains constant here, also, is his love for the princess and his honesty as a person.
We hope and are eagerly waiting to add another Prem to this list as soon as possible. Agree right?
