Bollywood Actors - BookMyShow

8 Times Bollywood Casting Amazed Us

If you are an actor who has acted in a particular kind of movies that have made the audience love you, it is easy to be stereotyped. It is rare for actors in their formative years to break out of their comfort zones. It is even difficult for seasoned actors to step out of the mold they have established for themselves. But sometimes, an actor can surprise you by doing something different and boy they do it admirably! The credit to these performances can be shared among casting directors who had faith in the actor’s capability to pull it off, the director in guiding the actor successfully to suit the role and the actors themselves, who have the sheer untapped talent to pull it off. Here, we give an ode to some of the many performances of actors, which have wowed and moved us over the years.

Varun Dhawan in Badlapur

Varun Dhawan, Badlapur - BookMyShowHis debut with Student of the Year and his consequent film Main Hoon Tera Hero, had us decided what kind of roles suited him and that he was the ultimate chocolate-boy. That changed with the movie Badlapur (2015). The story was dark, the characters were darker. A man’s brutal transformation in his thirst for vengeance was superbly portrayed and loads of kudos to the team and Varun Dhawan to show us what he is really capable of.

Alia Bhatt in Highway

Alia Bhatt, Highway - BookMyShowHonestly, people didn’t have much faith in her acting capabilities with the release of her debut movie Student of the Year. But she quickly proved us wrong with her performance in the movie Highway (2014). The journey of a girl who finds freedom in captivity was gripping and we believe very few could pull it off like she did.

Anushka Sharma in NH10

Anushka Sharma, NH10 - BookMyShowAnushka Sharma’s acting skills were never doubted but she had managed to carve out an image for herself with her choice of films. The movie NH10 changed all that. It was a strong women-centric movie and it was a pure Anushka Sharma show.

Rani Mukerji in Black

Rani Mukrji, Black - BookMyShowRani Mukerji is considered an excellent actress and she is, undoubtedly. But people may have found it difficult to imagine her in a role of a deaf, blind and mute woman. It can be very deglamorizing and it can lead to a lot of ridicule, if not done correctly. It was very brave of her to do the role and she has managed to do an exemplary job of it.

Abhishek Bachchan in Guru

Abhishek Bachchan, Guru - BookMyShowHe has faced a lot of criticism for being born with a silver spoon and he has found it more difficult to prove his worth in Bollywood. With his performance in Guru, he has not only showed the world his worth to be a part of this industry, he also showed us that the genes have been passed on to him alright!

Vivek Oberoi and Tusshar Kapoor in Shootout at Lokhandwala

Shootout at Lokhandwala - BookMyShowThe movie Shootout at Lokhandwala had everyone performing at their best. But Vivek Oberoi and Tusshar Kapoor were surprisingly very good with portraying Mumbai’s once most-feared goons. (Vivek’s Kaal may not be comparable to Heath Ledger’s Joker but his performance as Maya Bhai is nothing short of excellent.)

Ritiesh Deshmukh in Ek Villian

Riteish Deshmukh, Ek Villain - BookMyShowHe is known best for his amazing comic timing and he has always chosen to do what he does best. But something prompted him to take this role of a psychopath and he was creepy and scary (that is a compliment to his amazing performance.)

These are a few of the many actors who have surprised us with their performances and we would like to see them do more of those. What do you think? Tell us in the comments below and don’t forget to share.
