The competition is on! Only a few weeks after the trailer release of Ujda ChamanMaddock Films has now released its trailer of Bala. Even the release date of this film has been advanced and the Ayushmann Khurrana film will now hit theatres on the 7th of November, a day before the aforementioned film’s release. Both these comedies revolve around the protagonist’s failure to find love due to premature baldness. The movies seem to have similar storylines but different tones. The Amar Kaushik-directed comedy shows us how the central character named Bala tries different methods to cure his baldness – each more bizarre than the other – with the added flavor of Ayushmann’s comedic charm.

The trailer starts with Bala addressing a group of visibly dark-skinned women on how to lighten their skins to find potential grooms. While this scene throws light on the obvious colorism and unreal expectations of women, Bhumi Pednekar’s character changes the narrative here by exposing Bala’s bald head. The trailer progresses to show how Bala’s love life has been affected due to his premature baldness, leading him to take drastic steps to cure the problem. From herbal remedies to wigs, he tries everything that can cover his bald head, eventually opting for a hair transplant. Meanwhile, he also finds love in Yami Gautam’s character but whether that relationship blossoms is left to be seen.

Like most of Ayushmann Khurrana’s films, Bala seems like an out-and-out comedy. It has been directed by the same guy who gave us Stree last year. Even the supporting cast – Saurabh ShuklaJaved Jaffrey, and Abhishek Banerjee – give us much to look forward to. The dialogues make you chuckle and Ayushmann’s delivery and comedy timing take them up a notch. After his success with Dream Girl, it remains to be seen if Bala can upstage his highest-grossing film till date.

Bala hits theatres in just a few weeks. Mark your calendars for the 7th of November, when this comedy takes over the box office. Meanwhile, you can stay updated with the latest on the film by clicking the ‘Interested’ button below.
