We’ve seen many actors and actresses take their first step in Bollywood after a good long run in regional cinema. The amount of love cinema gets in our country is phenomenal and one of a kind. There are many actors who have won over both, Bollywood and regional cinema lovers.
Having said that, here are the Bollywood actors who are foraying into regional cinema this year.
The woman who had us at ‘Dhak Dhak’ is producing and acting in a slice of life Marathi movie. The film ‘Bucket List’ is about a woman’s journey on self-realization. As Marathi is her mother tongue, the language is not such a problem for her. She was last seen in Gulaab Gang in 2014.
2. Abhay Deol
The ruggedly handsome actor is co-producing and acting in a Tamil movie called ‘Idhu Vedhalam Sollum Kadhai’. He will be seen playing Vikramadityan, a king and reportedly, he has lost 10 kgs for the role.
Shraddha will be seen opposite Baahubali fame, Prabhas in Saaho. It is a trilingual film being shot in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. The movie is reportedly being made on a budget of Rs 150 crores.
Neil plays the negative character in Saaho. This is what he had to say:
“Saaho is shaping up really well. We are now preparing for action sequences of ‘Saaho’. Sujeeth is very good. He is only 26 years old but is a brilliant director. I gained weight for ‘Saaho’ but now I have to reduce that. I am finding it a bit difficult. But I think that transformation will be fun,” he said.
Anurag Kashyap stars in a Tamil thriller ‘Imaikkaa Nodigal’ as an antagonist. This is what our the director had to say about Anurag
“When we were looking for a suitable replacement, loved Anurag Kashyap’s screen presence in Akira trailer. Later, approached Anurag sir through my guru Murugadoss. After a few minutes of my narration, Anurag sir said he would play the antagonist in my film. His character will be the epicenter of Imaikkaa Nodigal”.
6. Akshay Kumar
The Khiladi of Bollywood plays the antagonist in the multilingual movie ‘2.0’ starring Rajnikanth. The movie is a sequel to 2010 film ‘Robot’ that saw Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. According to reports, it is the first film to be shot in 3D. The budget of the film is said to be more than Rs 400 crores. The movie will release in Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi.
