Today, the whole industry looks out for numbers and the moolah. Telling the story is as important as earning the moolah. There is nothing better than seeing an extravagant story unfold in front of you on the big screen.

Having said that, we’re quite a devoted country when it comes to Bollywood and its people. We impersonate them, we worship them and we adore them. It is often said that people make a star and it is true. The people make an actor a star by going to the theatre, watching him and cheering for him.

The first step in the industry is a crucial one but it doesn’t determine the fate of the actor. We have seen it time and again with actors like Ranbir Kapoor. But having said that, here are the box office collections of the movies that the superstars of today entered the industry with:

#1 Shah Rukh Khan

Shah Rukh

King Khan made his debut with ‘Deewana’ along with Divya Bharti and they became stars overnight. Surprisingly our King hasn’t seen his first movie. ‘Deewana’ was a hit, it earned ₹ 7.7 crores.

 “All notions, creations & experiences of decades will end on the day of truth. I tirelessly work to ignore the inevitable. Thx for 22 yrs of O2. I have till date not seen Deewana. I have a notion that I don’t want to see my first or last creation. They r bookends, the story is between”

His recent inning at the movies ‘Jab Harry Met Sejal‘ earned only ₹147 crores.

#2 Salman Khan

Salman Khan

Bhaijaan didn’t enter the industry with ‘Maine Pyaar Kiya’. He made a debut in a movie called ‘Biwi Ho Toh Aisi’ as a supporting character. The 1988 movie starred Rekha and Farooq Shaikh. Salman Khan’s voice was dubbed by someone else. The movie earned  1.3 crores at the box office.

We last saw him in ‘Tiger Zinda Hai’, it earned ₹338 crores.

#3 Akshay Kumar

Akshay Kumar

Akshay Kumar first appeared on the big screen with Raakhee and Shantipriya. ‘Saugandh’ wasn’t well-received at the box-office. The movie only earned  1.4 crores.  

The Khiladi was last seen in ‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha‘ and it earned ₹132 crores.

#4 Hrithik Roshan

Hrithik Roshan

The industry’s ‘Greek God’ made his debut with a blockbuster ‘Kaho Naa…Pyaar Hai’. The movie earned ₹44 crores at the box office. The industry got a star and there was Hrithik mania all over. As a matter of fact, Hrithik received 30,000 marriage proposals after the movie released.

Kaabil‘was his last release and it earned ₹86 crores. 

#5 Ranbir Kapoor

Ranbir Kapoor

The rockstar of the industry didn’t really have the desired debut. He made his debut with Sonam Kapoor in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Saawariya’. The film clashed with Deepika Padukone‘s debut ‘Om Shanti Om’ and it crashed at the box office.  ‘Saawariya‘ earned ₹24 crores at the box office.  Not many know that the movie was the first movie to be produced and released by a Hollywood production company.

Jagga Jasoos‘ was his last release and it earned ₹84 crores.

#6 Aamir Khan

Aamir Khan

The perfectionist had a pretty impressive step in Bollywood. His debut movie ‘Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak’ earned ₹4.9 crores in the year 1988. It is said that there were two endings that were filmed, one happy and one sad. They went ahead with the sad one.

We saw him in Secret Superstar, it earned ₹64 crores at the Indian B.O.

 #7 Shahid Kapoor

In 2003, Shahid Kapoor made his debut in the industry with ‘Ishq Vishk’. Bollywood got its own chocolate boy with a movie that earned ₹7.7 crores. Reportedly, he met with a traumatic experience with horses while shooting the film.

He is seen in ‘Padmaavat‘ which has crossed ₹200 crores at the box office.

#8 Ranveer Singh

Ranveer Singh

The powerhouse of energy entered the industry with ‘Band Baaja Baraat‘ as Bittu Sharma and the rest is history. His debut movie earned ₹23 crores at the box office.

Interestingly, our man was at a date when he was called for an audition and he was wearing a tee with ‘Born To Be Famous’ written on it. He danced to ‘Chhaiyan Chhaiyan’ and ‘My name is Lakhan’ during the audition.

He is seen in ‘Padmaavat‘ which has crossed ₹200 crores at the box office.
