Is Drive Dharma’s Answer to Dhoom?

Yesterday, Karan Johar tweeted about Dharma Productions’ latest project – Drive. The film, which stars Sushant Singh Rajput and Jacqueline Fernandez is supposed to be a remake of the 2011 Hollywood movie of the same name. That film featured Ryan Gosling, Carey Mulligan, Christina Hendricks, Bryan Cranston, and Ron Perlman. Will Drive live up to the expectations? Well, it will be a long wait for us to find out, as yesterday was only the first day of the shoot.

In the tweet, Sushant Singh Rajput and Jacqueline Fernandez posed together with a luxury car in the background. The first schedule will take place in Mumbai but it is reported that the team will head overseas to shoot certain parts of the movie. While this is the first time that Rajput and Fernandez have been paired together, fans got a glimpse of their sizzling chemistry in a performance at the 62nd Filmfare Awards. The duo performed to the tracks – Tum Dekho and The Humma Song.

Drive is directed by Tarun Mansukhani who made the film Dostana way back in 2008. The filmmaker spent years working on the sequel to the Abhishek Bachchan and John Abraham-starrer but things didn't materialize. Now, the director is all set to experiment with a different genre as Drive will be an out-and-out action movie. The biggest surprise of the announcement was about Drive being the first movie of a series. So you can certainly expect sequels in the franchise. Is this Karan Johar’s answer to Dhoom? Aditya Chopra and KJo are good friends and the former’s Dhoom series has been extremely successful. If Drive does well, Johar can take the franchise to another level by casting bigger stars in the next films of the series. That’s all the info we have about the movie till now but keep checking this space for latest updates on Drive.
