Background & Story

Jia Aur Jia is an upcoming woman-centric drama that chronicles the road trip of two women  who are poles apart from each other but have a common name. An absolute delight for all wanderlusts, the movie’s concept reminds us of Kangana’s Queen and with two of Bollywood’s most talented actresses Kalki Koechlin and Richa Chadha, the film looks really promising. While Kalki’s character Jia believes in living life to the fullest and is forever happy and enthusiastic, Richa Chaddha’s character, on the other hand, is an unhappy banker full of remorse. There is also Kalki’s love interest played by debutant Arslan Goni, an Indian origin Swedish who becomes an integral part of the protagonists` lives.

From getting annoyed at Kalki’s shoplifting, stealing and pagalpanti to both eventually sharing secrets, the road trip becomes a life-changing experience. Though the trailer gets intense towards the end hinting at things not being as rosy as they look, we are sure a large chunk of the film is going to be about how to enjoy every moment. Amidst all Bollywood bromance, Jia Aur Jia will give us a fresh perspective on female bonding and friendships.

What to Expect?

Shot in Sweden, it is going to be a visually appealing film with its picturesque locations and aesthetics. Apart from that, the camaraderie between the lead actors, Kalki and Richha, both terrific performers, is another highlight of the film. We don’t always get to see a theatre enthusiast like Kalki doing such roles where she is dancing and being a total freak. With so much male dominance visible in almost all facets, a film that keeps two women in the spotlight is going to be a pleasant experience.

Kalki and Richha are not just co-stars but also good friends and to see how this friendship translates onscreen, considering both had a professional rivalry recently, looks exciting. The film’s music is being well received especially the remade version of Mohammad Rafi’s iconic Jia Ho Jia O Jia Kuch Bol Do filmed on the evergreen actors Dev Anand and Asha Parekh. One can expect the music score to be the film’s biggest strength.

The film is all set to release on 27th October. Do not forget to book your tickets here and stay tuned for Jia Aur Jia’s BMS Review.
