After a long wait, Dharma Productions’ Bhoot – Part One: The Haunted Ship is finalized for a release this February. The Vicky Kaushal and Bhumi Pednekar starrer was earlier scheduled to release in November 2019 but was pushed to this year and will hit the screens on the 21st of this month. After the release of several posters, two teasers, and now the trailer, we have finally managed to see what Bhoot: Part One – The Haunted Ship is about and it has chilled us to the bones.
As the title suggests, Bhoot: Part One – The Haunted Ship unravels when the abandoned Seabird Ship is found on the shores of Mumbai. A team is sent to inspect this sudden appearance, with Prithvi (Vicky Kaushal) leading the investigations as the surveying officer. He first enters the vessel on his own and finds it empty. The ship has clearly been ransacked and there is not a single living being on board. However, there are some strange occurrences inside the ship, which leads to more curiosity and plenty of conspiracies about what happened on board. We also get to see a glimpse of a couple that tried to play hide and seek, only for the girl to be attacked by the malevolent spirits on the ship and the guy, too, probably suffers the same fate. There is clearly the presence of a young girl’s bhoot but how she got there and what happened to her has not been revealed. After Prithvi’s initial investigation of the ship, he too begins to have strange visions and other bhoots haunt his nightmares. We get a quick glimpse of Bhumi Pednekar as Prithvi’s wife and mother of his child but she could also be another figment of his bizarre imaginations.
Bhoot: Part One – The Haunted Ship is set to be a two-part film, with the first part releasing on the 21st of February. It has been directed by Bhanu Pratap Singh, who makes his feature film debut with this spookfest. While Indian audiences generally favor horror movies, Bollywood has not had a good record with films in this genre. This makes Bhoot: Part One – The Haunted Ship all the more exciting and we can’t wait to see if this movie manages to spook the audiences or if the scares turn into laughter. Book your tickets below!
