Bollywood has always been an industry that fills people with intrigue about destiny, hardwork and luck. We’ve seen a number of rags-to-riches stories and we’ve suffered massive heart breaks as well.

Here are a few facts about Bollywood that only true fans would know of:

#1 Seven Shakespeare paid tribute to the music produced in Bollywood by sampling out an entire song, Hindi Sad Diamonds, from ‘Chamma Chhamma’ composed by Anu Malik and featuring in a movie claimed to be made as “a tribute to Akira Kurosawa .”


#2 Penned By Gulzar, the comic was titled as Supremo based on the titular title given to Amitabh Bachhan by Randhir Kapoor.

#3 Raj Kapoor’s ‘Mera Naam Joker’ was so long (4 hours 15 min) that it became the first Bollywood movie to have two intervals.

#4 The little girl from Chachi 420 played Geeta Phogat in Dangal.

#5 Manoj Kumar’s landmark movie ‘Roti, Kapda aur Makaan’ was the slogan of a famous Pakistani leader Zulfikar Ali Bhutto.

#6 When Irrfan Khan was frustrated doing TV serials and decided to leave Mumbai, Tigmanshu Dhulia stopped him and said “Ruko yaar, tumko National Award dilayenge”. Dhulia eventually fulfilled his promise two decades later.

#7 In Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, during ‘The Neelam Show’, the scene just before Shah Rukh Khan speaks, there is a scene in which a guy pleads her girl friend to leave him because he has found a new girl. The guy is Nikhil Advani and the girl is Farah Khan.

#8 In his film ‘Piku‘, Shoojit Sircar found a unique way to give tribute to Hrishikesh Mukherjee by Amitabh Bachchan’s character as Bhaskar Bannerjee. Bhaskar Bannerjee was the name of Amitabh Bachchan’s character in iconic film ‘Anand’.
