Bollywood has seen a lot of potential actors and directors since its initiation. One of the current heart throb of youngsters is director-turned-actor, and son of famous Lyricist and screenwriter, Javed Akhtar and Honey Irani- Farhan Akhtar. He is, undoubtedly, one of the most talented members of the Bollywood industry.
Farhan Akhtar entered Bollywood at the age of 17 and has proven himself since then, with his versatility as a film director, screenwriter, producer, dynamic actor, playback singer, lyricist and television host.
Farhan’s directorial debut was in 2001 with Dil Chahta Hai, which was a hit amongst the viewers. He went on the direct movies like Lakhshya, Don, Positive, Zindagi na Milegi Dobara (as a producer) and Don 2. He started his acting career in the year 2008 with Rock On. He proceeded to act in blockbusters like Luck By Chance, Karthik calling Karthik, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag for which he received positive reviews from the critics.
I have loved every single movie directed and produced by Farhan Akhtar and have made it a point to watch every one of his movies. All his movies has had a heart-touching and a fresh feeling to it. His movies are mostly highlighted towards the day-to-day truth of life presented in an enigmatic way. He remade Salim Javed’s Don into a complete franchise.
Farhan Akhtar claims that acting was never his intention. His aim was to direct, produce and write films. Acting came as a sudden opportunity to him when Abhishek Kapoor approached him to act in Rock on.
“I wanted to associate with films, my strengths lay in writing and direction. When I did films like ‘Dil Chahta Hai’, ‘Lakshya’ and ‘Don’, I was working closely with actors.
I felt I should try my hands at acting as I would learn lot of things as a director,” Farhan said at a promotional event of his upcoming film ‘Shaadi Ke Side Effects’ last evening.
“I am happy to be acting in films. I did ‘Rock On’. The experience was good and I explored it further. I don’t think about what people think about me. My focus is to continue doing good work. I am thankful to my fans for the acceptance and support they have shown over the years,” said Farhan.
Even though I am a big fan, I never felt Farhan was much of an actor. But his screen presence in Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara touched me and I was forced to accept that Farhan Akhtar as a truly talented person. His performance in Bhaag Milkha Bhaag was incredible and he went on to prove to the world that he is one of the best in the industry.
It is rather difficult to decide who is better- Farhan Akhtar as a Director or Farhan Akhtar as an Actor. He has proven himself as good an actor as a director. With his upcoming projects; Shaadi Ke Side Effects, Bombay Samurai, Raees and more, we definitely will get to see a lot of Farhan on the screens this year. Perhaps, this is the reason why Farhan has taken a two year break from Direction.
Farhan Akhtar is truly and undoubtedly Bollywood’s multi-dimensional personality. He is a Master of all trades and promises to deliver his best.
