You can’t love Bollywood movies and not have watched Coolie No. 1. Directed by David Dhawan in 1995, this film was a blockbuster hit at the time which has now turned into a classic. Starring Govinda and Karisma Kapoor in lead roles, Coolie No. 1 was entertaining, hilarious, and everything you could ever want in a classic Bollywood film.

23 years later, David Dhawan has decided to remake his legendary film. But this time around, with his son Varun Dhawan and Sara Ali Khan playing the lead roles. The filmmakers unveiled two new posters about this much-talked-about film, and Varun & Sara not only look incredible but also seem to have a sizzling chemistry.

The original film revolves around a matchmaker who is humiliated by one of his clients when he brings a rishta for his daughter. This client only wants to marry his daughter into a rich family. To teach him a lesson, the matchmaker contacts a coolie named Raju and asks him to pretend to be from a rich family. What ensues is chaos, drama, and lots of fun.

Talking about Coolie No. 1, Varun said, “Why I wanted to do this film is because when I watched Coolie No 1, I was so entertained. I had such a good time watching it. It is a family film. It is one of the funniest and most entertaining films I have ever watched. It has an amazing screenplay and starred brilliant actors. We are adapting it.”

The cast and crew have started filming in Bangkok and Thailand on 7th August, and we’re so excited for what’s in store. Here’s a fun fact you should also know – The remake of Coolie No. 1 will be David Dhawan’s 45th film. Produced by Vashu Bhagnani’s Pooja Entertainment, this film is slated to hit the big screen on 1st May 2020.
