Alia Bhatt– Vicky Kaushal starrer Raazi is a masterpiece. Raazi is a carefully crafted espionage thriller that Bollywood never attempted to make. It is bold, beautiful, spine-chilling and emotional. What Meghna Gulzar has done here, has brought out top-notch performances in a beautifully woven story.
As we all know that the movie is based on Harinder Sikka’s novel ‘Calling Sehmat’. Sehmat Khan’s story is being told in poetry, almost. Not only did the critics and the audience love the movie, Raazi is minting the moolah at the Box Office too.
Raazi has had a brilliant opening day, it earned ₹7.53 crores. For Alia, it’s the 7th highest opening day in her career ahead of Student of The Year, Kapoor & Sons and Highway.
It is also the second highest opening ever for a woman-oriented movie after Vidya Balan’s Dirty Picture and ahead of Deepika Padukone’s Piku and Kareena Kapoor’s Heroine.
Not only did it have a good opening, but it has also witnessed a 50% jump on the second day with ₹11 crores.
The third day turned out to be even better for Meghna Gulzar’s espionage thriller with the film minting in ₹14.11 crore on Sunday. This takes the film’s total weekend collections at ₹ 32.94 crore.
It’s worth noting that Raazi has been made on a tight budget of ₹ 15.74 crore.
This makes Raazi one of the few quality films from Indian that didn’t have to struggle to get its cost recovered in the first weekend.
If the word of mouth keeps spreading about the film, the second week may take the film over 70 crores.
