Raees vs Kaabil

Last year, the biggest clash at the box-office was between Rustom and Mohenjo Daro, and we all know how that ended. Well, for the uninitiated, the Hrithik Roshan-starrer was totally sidelined by Akshay Kumar’s film. Though both parties went all out with the promotions, once the films released, Mohenjo Daro suffered due to negative reviews. Hrithik Roshan’s next film, Kaabil, too, won’t have a solo release as Shah Rukh Khan’s movie, Raees will be out on the same day. Read on to know more about the two upcoming Hindi movies.

In Raees, Shah Rukh Khan plays the role of a bootlegger, Raees Khan, and the film deals with the illicit liquor business in Ahmedabad. Nawazuddin Siddiqui will be seen as a cop who is hell bent on not just shutting down Raees' business but also putting him behind bars. Pakistani actress, Mahira Khan, makes her debut with Raees but unfortunately won’t be coming to India to promote the movie. Kaabil, on the other hand, is a revenge drama. The protagonists played by Hrithik Roshan and Yami Gautam, are visually-challenged. They fall in love and live a happy life till a tragedy takes place. Roshan's character wants to get back at the men who harmed him and his wife, and the Roy brothers (Rohit and Ronit) play the antagonists in the movie.

Raees was initially supposed to release on Eid 2016 but when Salman Khan announced that Sultan would be released on the same day, Farhan Akhtar decided to change the release date of his production. Since all the big days of 2016 were taken, January 26, 2017, seemed like the best release date for Raees. Rakesh Roshan’s Kaabil was already supposed to release on the same day but SRK expected the veteran filmmaker to push the film to a later date. After several meetings, both parties refused to budge and decided to let their films clash at the box office. Rakesh Roshan claims that he is superstitious about changing the release date of Kaabil while Shah Rukh Khan can't afford to delay the release of Raees any further. Now, we can’t wait to see which film will set the cash registers ringing on January 25.
