Sidharth Malhotra and Riteish Deshmukh will be seen together after their blockbuster hit, Ek Villain. Five years later, they will now be seen pitted against each other in their upcoming and highly-awaited film, Marjaavaan.
Directed by Milap Zaveri, Marjaavaan is a film that will have extravagant, over-the-top action sequences that complement an intense love story between Sidharth Malhotra, a Hindu boy who falls in love with a Muslim girl (Tara Sutaria). This communal tension in their love story leads to a violent battle between Sidharth and Riteish Deshmukh who is dead set on killing Tara’s character. In fact, Sidharth’s opening line in the trailer is, “Mandir aur Masjid dono milenge. Guzrega iss desh ki jis gali se, madat milegi har kisi ko. Mango ya Ali se ya Bajrangbali se.” This dialogue definitely sets the premise of this film.
Another interesting fact to note is that Marjaavaan bears a few similarities with Ek Villain which also starred this power-duo. When you look at Tara’s character who is mute, you will be reminded of Shraddha Kapoor’s character in Ek Villain. If this is not convincing enough, pay attention to Riteish’s enter scene. He makes his grand entrance humming to the tune of Teri Galliyan.
There is definitely a buzz surrounding this movie and Sidharth is very excited about his upcoming film. He says, “Milap (Zaveri) believes in the cinema that we all grew up watching, where a hero makes an amazing entry or does action and dialogue baazi. I personally grew up on cinema of this genre. I think for the first time I have got an opportunity to play a massy hero, so when I heard the narration of this film, I was very excited and inspired to do the role.”
With fingers crossed, we hope that this film delivers all that it has promised. Marjaavaan is all set to hit the big screen on November 15.
