Their lives were nothing short of revolutionary. They surpassed age barriers, broke glass ceilings, and showed the whole world that one must not underestimate the two elderly women from a small village in India. Chandro Tomar and Prakashi Tomar are today two of the oldest sharpshooters in the world. And their story comes to life on screen in Tushar Hiranandani’s Saand Ki Aankh. These two ladies deserve only the best so essaying their roles are Bollywood’s finest actresses, Bhumi Pednekar and Taapsee Pannu.

Saand Ki Aankh also reunites Taapsee with her Manmarziyaan director Anurag Kashyap, who is producing this film. The trailer gives us a glimpse of the village of Johri in rural Uttar Pradesh, where Chandro and Prakashi live with their extended family. Determined not to make their daughters suffer the same fate of suppression as them, the two women pick up the gun to inspire the young girls towards a brighter future. Their exceptional skills catch the eye of a coach at the Rifle Academy and he encourages them to enroll there along with their daughters. While their family is hesitant, the women go on to create history. After beating all odds, they win 352 medals each in the course of their veteran professional life as shooters.

Saand Ki Aankh also stars Viineet Kumar, who returns to the big screen after a year (his last film was Gold). The actor made quite an impact in Anurag Kashyap’s Mukkabaaz and it will be a delight to see him with the leading ladies in yet another sports drama. Prakash Jha and Shaad Randhawa are also said to play important roles in this film. You don’t have to wait for long as Saand Ki Aankh releases in theatres this Diwali, alongside Made in China and Housefull 4. It looks like a tough fight in the box office but going by the trailer, this one is a sure shot winner.
