In 1894, English author Rudyard Kipling wrote a collection of stories titled The Jungle Book. Many years later, the story was used and developed into an exciting animated film by Walt Disney. Mowgli, Bagheera, Baloo and Shere Khan- the prominent characters from the movie came to rule the imagination of kids. The upbeat tune ‘The Bare Necessities’ from the 1967 film caught on and was on the lips of every kid!
Some 40 years later, Walt Disney is back with another Jungle Book. But this time it is a 3D comedy-adventure-fantasy film, using computer-generated imagery (CGI) and live action. Disney recently came out with the trailer, which is in stark contrast to the old one. There’s also a mash-up trailer and you must, must check these out.
"Look for the bare necessities.. The simple bare necessities…Forget about your worries and your strife!"
The 1967 film was a huge hit. It was the 17th film in the animated series by Walt Disney and it made $73 million in the United States on its first release. It was re-released with variations in 1994 and 2003.
The much awaited live-action adaptation release is expected in April next year. The recently released trailer makes for an exciting watch and gives us a glimpse of the young Mowgli played by Neel Sethi, the lazy and carefree spirited brown bear, Baloo voiced by Bill Murray, the no nonsense black panther, Bagheera, voiced by Ben Kingsley, the evil snake, Kaa, voiced by Scarlett Johansson, and the villainous Bengal tiger, Shere Khan, voiced by Idris Elba.
Mash-up: 1967 + 2016
The mash-up trailer merges the animated shots from the 1967 trailer and the voice-over from the 2016 trailer and gives us something special. But enough reading. Watch!
