Theatre, TV and film actor Narendra Jha passed away at the age of 55 last night. He suffered a cardiac arrest while on a vacation at his farm house in Nanegaon, Maharashtra.
Lakshman Singh, the actor’s driver, told IANS, “He had no health issues and last night (Tuesday) he was fine. He ate properly and spoke to us… Things were fine. Around 4 a.m. today, he felt a chest pain so we took him to a nearby hospital, but everything was over by then.”
Narendra Jha, born in Delhi, made a name for himself in the world of theatre with the play ‘Samvidhaan’, in which he played Mohammad Ali Jinnah. The play was later adapted into a 10-part series, directed by Shyam Benegal. Of late, Jha had several notable performances in high profile films, like Haider, Raees, Mohenjo Daro and Kaabil. He played the main antagonist in the Sunny Deol starrer Ghayal Returns.
Narendra Jha was supposed to be a part of Prabhas starrer Saaho, and Salman Khan’s Race 3. He was married to former Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) CEO Pankaja Thakur.
As soon as the news broke, condolences started pouring in for the actor.
