Review: Hit And Run is a low-budget action comedy that fails to satisfy the tickle buds. Promoted as an action-comedy, there aren’t more than a handful of scenes that will at max manage to put a dry smile on your face. The dialogues nor their delivery are very effective. Someone needs to tell the writers of the movie, that adding swear words on a regular basis doesn’t really make the movie funny. Yes, there were some amazingly powerful cars, good scenery and a few good lines thrown in here and there, but nothing that’s out of the ordinary. The storyline was quite predictable and nothing really stood out. The second half of the movie was slightly better than the first half, credit mainly going to Bradley Cooper, who did a “better” role than most.
Charles Bronson/Yul Perkins, played by Dax Shepard who is under witness protection at Milton. He lives with his girlfriend Annie Bean, played by Kristen Bell. He is watched over by the extremely clumsy and careless Marshall Randy, played by Tom Arnold. When opportunity knocks on Annie’s door, the couple decide to leave Milton and head for Los Angeles. When Gill, Annie’s ex, played by Michael Rosenbaum hears of his Annie moving to Los Angeles with Yul Perkins, he gets really really upset.
Gill, does a background check on Yul and finds out that Yul is an ex-fugitive who ratted out his comrades. Gill, the annoying, pesky person that he is, contacts Alex Dmitri, Yul’s comrade, played by Bradley Cooper. This sets up an epic car chase between Yul Perkins, Gill, Randy and Alex Dmitri. Things go haywire and out of control during the car chase, with Annie deciding to leave Yul, only to be kidnapped by Alex again. And craziness begins again!
Hit and Run is a movie that has traits of chick flicks, mundane humor, and a lot of fast cars.A pinch of romance, some action packed driving and a funny line or two made up pretty much the entire movie. Dax Shepard and Kristen Bell have performed mediocre roles. The two roles that stood out were the ones played by Bradley Cooper and Tom Arnold. No real twists and turns in the movie, and the humor was lackluster in most parts. Fast cars, old rock n roll songs playing in the background and Bradley Cooper in really funny dreads were the highlights of the movie.
Verdict : A one-time watch, but don’t expect too much out of the movie
