Ever watched a movie and remarked on how the actor was perfect for the role? Many actors put in a lot of effort to look the part and get into the skin of the character. While the lead actors are generally chosen by the director/producer, the rest of the cast is selected by the casting director. Movies like Wake Up Sid, Band Baaja Baaraat, and Kai Po Che gave us some wonderful actors like Namit Das, Manish Choudhary, and Rajkummar Rao respectively. A lot of credit goes to the casting directors who picked these actors for the films. Most of the casting directors in Bollywood receive numerous portfolios and they make it a point to select the best. If you’re keen on making a career in Bollywood, then reaching the following influential casting directors could help.

Shanoo Sharma

A favorite of Yash Raj Films, this casting director has given a break to many aspiring actors. Her most famous finds are Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor. In fact, Shanoo was unaware that Arjun was Boney Kapoor’s son and chose him for Ishaqzaade on the basis of his audition.

Mukesh Chhabra

Mukesh was instrumental in Sushant Singh Rajput's journey from the small-screen to Bollywood. After giving him a break with Abhishek Kapoor's Kai Po Che, Chhabra also helped Sushant bag some more films. While Mukesh has mostly got it right, his decision to have Karan Johar as the antagonist in Anurag Kashyap’s Bombay Velvet, backfired.

Nandini Shrikent

Not many are aware of the fact that actor Neil Bhoopalam's wife, Nandini, is one of the top casting directors in Bollywood. She works on most of the films that are produced by Excel Entertainment (Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani's production house). Shrikent has also done casting for Life of Pi and Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani.

Shruti Mahajan

After completing a one-year contract with Yash Raj Films, Shruti Mahajan started working independently. She is known for her work on films like Mary Kom, Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram-Leela, Bajirao Mastani and Jai Gangaajal. It is most likely that she will do the casting for Sanjay Leela Bhansali's next film, too.
