Insidious: The Last Key details - BookMyShow

Why Insidious: The Last Key Might Be the Most Terrifying Of Them All

The Insidious franchise is not yet over and another movie is coming to haunt you. The fourth instalment of the franchise – Insidious: The Last Key – is set to release on January 05, 2018 and will be the second film in the series chronologically. Insidious: The Last Key takes us back to parapsychologist Dr. Elise Rainier’s childhood as she battles even more demons, this time in her own family home.

Let’s rewind to take a look at the movies in the Insidious franchise and see what to expect from the upcoming movie.

Insidious (2010)

This was not your regular haunted house story. The Lamberts were possessed by demonic spirits from another realm called The Further. Dr. Elise Rainier guided Josh Lambert and his son in this parallel realm, so they could be rid of the demon possessing the son. Unfortunately, on the way back, another demon took possession of the father, which led to a more frightening sequel.

Insidious: Chapter 2 (2013)

Here, we met one of the most terrifying on-screen ghosts of all time in Bride in Black. Dr. Elise Rainier once again comes to the rescue of the Lambert family, although this time, she too is in The Further, given that she is now a ghost (but a good one). By the end of the movie, we see the last of the Lamberts, as they are finally rid of the demon spirits haunting them.

Insidious: Chapter 3 (2015)

This film acts as the prequel to the other two films, exploring how Dr. Elise Rainier got her start as a psychic medium. Once again, she uses her gifts to rescue a teenage girl possessed by a deadly spirit from The Further, who feeds on her soul, killing her slowly each day. This demon is more powerful than the parapsychologist imagines, but she overpowers it in the end.

Insidious: The Last Key (2018)

Following the events in the previous film, this one takes Dr. Elise Rainier to New Mexico to investigate a family’s call about supernatural disturbances in their home. Upon reaching there, the parapsychologist realizes that she has been brought back to her childhood home, now infested with demons. This film will take her even deeper into The Further, where she might have to fight the most powerful demon of them all – who holds the keys to the insidious realm.

If you have seen the Insidious franchise, you already know that it gets scarier with every new movie. Possibly the most underrated horror franchise, the new movie in the series looks terribly frightening and yet, promising. We believe this could be the one to put Insidious in the likes of Conjuring and Annabelle. So begin the New Year with some frights and scares.
