It’s not everyday that Indian cinema’s living legends Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth clash, but when they do, cinephiles go berserk, and the internet breaks!
September 16, 2015 was a significant date for film lovers, as two living legends shared details about their upcoming releases on social media. The last time these two legends had a clash it was when Mumbai Express and Chandramukhi released on the same day (in 2005). And now, after nearly a decade, history repeated itself.
The makers of Thoongavanam announced the trailer release days in advance. And they kept their promise. Packed with high-octane stunt scenes and sleek cuts, the trailer gave us a hint that this film is going to be an action-oriented affair. Kamal Haasan can ace any role, and when he dons the role of a cop, he adds a fierce dimension to the character. And that’s exactly what we can see in the trailer. Trisha will also be seen playing an intense role in this thriller.
The Tamil version of the movie is said to be the remake of French movie Sleepless Night. It has been written by the actor himself and has been directed by his long-time associate Rajesh M Selva. The music is by M Ghibran and cinematography by Sanu Varughese. The Telugu version of this film is titled ‘Cheekati Raajyam’.
You couldn’t get enough of this trailer, and then the next great news came out. The makers of Kabali decided to release the first look of their film as well. Rajinikanth took to his Twitter page to reveal the posters of his upcoming film, sending his fans into a tizzy. When the film was first announced, fans made their own posters of the film, which went viral on social media. But all speculation has come to an end. Within minutes of the release, #Kabali began to trend on social media. In one poster of the film, Rajinikanth looks suave in a grey suit, oozing sophistication. The Malaysian twin towers serve as a backdrop in these posters.
In the second poster, he is portrayed as the don who takes on his enemies. Directed by Pa. Ranjith, the film chronicles the life of a gangster, played by Rajinikanth, and will be shot in Chennai and Malaysia.
In these promotional wars, whose side are you on? Rajinikanth or Kamal Haasan?
