South Indian film industry has for long been ruled by a handful of Megastars and Superstars, there are a few burning and power stars too but this time we will talk about superstars. The four major film industries down south have already produced at least two superstars each. For instance, Kollywood has Rajinikanth (who could also be considered a global superstar), Kamal Haasan, Vikram, Ajith Kumar, Nayanthara, Vijay, Dhanush, Vikram. Tollywood has Megastar Chiranjeevi, Pawan Kalyan, Venkatesh Daggubati. Mollywood has Mohanlal, Mammootty, Manju Warrier. Sandalwood has Puneeth Rajkumar, Kiccha Sudeep, Shiva Rajkumar and Upendra

But we all know change is inevitable and there will come a day when these superstars will have to take a back seat and let the young ones run the show. So, here are ten south Indian stars who are on their way to superstardom!

Dulquer Salmaan

Mammootty will be passing on the baton to son Dulquer Salmaan and he definitely should not be worried, DQ is a born superstar. Making his debut with the movie Second Show (2012), DQ has all the star qualities. He is insanely good looking, can act brilliantly and his filmography is proof of what a smart artist he actually is. He maybe only five years old in this industry but he surely is a force to reckon with. Not only is he a talented actor he is also an excellent businessman. With a filmography of super-hit films like Ustad Hotel (2012), Bangalore Days (2014), Vikramadithyan (2014), O Kadhal Kanmani (2015) and Charlie (2015) among others, DQ is on his way to be a superstar. DQ will make sure his upcoming films SoloParava and Oru Bhayankara Kamukan take him to the super stardom that his father has for long enjoyed.

Nivin Pauly

Nivin Pauly made his debut with the film Malarvadi Arts Club directed by Vineeth Srinivasan in 2010. It's been 10 years since we were blessed with this immensely talented actor who can make anyone weak in their knees with his smile. After his debut he made special appearances in few films like Traffic (2011) and Spanish Masala (2012) but it was only until his film Thattathin Marayathu (2012) that he shot to fame and there was no looking back for the actor. His super hit films include Bangalore Days (2014), Premam(2015), Neram (2013), Action Hero Biju (2016) among others. Nivin does not shy away from playing negative or roles with a grey shade as was seen in the film Da Thadiya (2012) and Arikil Oraal (2013). Nivin is going through probably the best phase of his career at the moment and this phase will continue for a long time. His upcoming movies include not just Malayalam but also Tamil language film Richie. His upcoming Malayalam films include Moothon, Hey Jude with Trisha Krishnan and Love Action Drama with Nayanthara.

Fahadh Faasil

If there is someone who has made a successful comeback in Malayalam films is none other than Fahadh Faasil. The actor made his debut with the 2002 film Kaiyethum Doorath directed by his father Fazil. The film bombed at the box-office but he made a comeback after six years with Kerala Cafe (2009), this film did exceptionally well at the box-office. He later went on to do some top-notch films like Chappa Kurishu (2011 ), 22 Female Kottayam (2012), Amen (2013), Bangalore Days (2014), Maheshinte Prathikaaram (2016) and this year he has already delivered two blockbusters this year – Take Off and Thondimuthalum Dhriksakshiyum. He is one actor who clearly doesn't care if he is not the 'hero' of a film, for instance, in 22 Female Kottayam he played the role of Cyril so perfectly that every person who watched the film probably clapped their hands when the 'hero' Tesa (Rima Kallingal) chops off this devil's genitals. He was not the main lead in Bangalore Days or Take Off but this does not mean he went unnoticed, he has the ability to captivate the audiences with his acting skills. A true character actor is what Fahadh is and will always be, hopefully. His upcoming films include Velaikkaran (Tamil), Aneethi Kathaigal (Tamil), and Trance.

Rana Daggubati

With an iconic role as Bhallaladeva from the Baahubali series, Rana Daggubati achieved massive popularity. He made a fantastic debut in 2010 with the Telugu film leader. His second project was the Hindi film Dum Maaro Dum (2011) directed by Rohan Sippy and he was able to impress the audience and critics alike with his performance. His popular films include Krishnam Vande Jagadgurum (2012), The Ghazi Attack (2017) among others. His upcoming movie Nene Mantri Nene Raju is probably one of the most awaited south Indian films of this year.

Ram Charan Teja

Here is another son who will take on the baton from his father, Megastar Chiranjeevi. Ram Charan made his debut in 2007 with the Puri Jagannadh film Chirutha. His second film Magadheera (2009) was a massive success and catapulted him to stardom. He may not have achieved the level of success he would have wanted for his Bollywood debut Zanjeer (2013) but he is surely an actor that Bollywood stars need to watch out for. His upcoming movie Rangasthalam 1985 also stars Samantha Ruth Prabhu and is slated for a release later this year.

Naga Chaitanya Akkineni

The Akkineni name in the film world will be taken forward by Naga Chaitanya. His father Akkineni Nagarjuna has, for long, held on to the tag of 'King' and his son Naga Chaitanya is on his way to being a superstar soon. With his charming smile, Naga Chaitanya has stolen everybody's heart. His upcoming film is the thriller Yuddham Sharanam which will be his second release this year after Rarandoi Veduka Chudham.

Allu Arjun

His biggest hits are Sarrainodu (2016), Race Gurram (2014), Vedam(2010). His upcoming releases include Naa Peru Surya slated for a 2018 release.

His introduction to the glam world was not through movies but through teleserials and theatre plays. His first appearance in a movie was as a supporting actor in the 2007 film  Jambada Hudugi. He has a track record of giving super-hit films like Lucky (2012), Googly (2013) and Mr. and Mrs. Ramchari (2014). He soon was given the tag 'Rocking Star' Yash. His next film KGF is considered the next big Kannada film and will star Srinidhi Shetty opposite him. From a small-screen and theatre artist, Yash has come a long way and looks like he is not going anywhere!
