10 South Indian Movies to Watch Out for in 2018!

If you are one of the many movie lovers in this country, you would know the numerous incredible and impressive movies that film industries from the south have been churning out over the past couple of years. Films like the Baahubali series have changed the way the world looks at South Indian films. So, here are a few films that we think did absolutely well in terms of performance, story, screenplay, music and all the other departments that make up a film. These films have been categorized based on language and we hope you catch them at the earliest.


Baahubali 2: The Conclusion

Baahubali 2 : The Conclusion is without a doubt a movie that needs to be watched by everyone. Directed by S.S. Rajamouli, the second part of the super successful Baahubali franchise released on 28th April, 2017 and it broke all the existing box-office records. Everyone who watched the film had only high praises for the film. This film made Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, Anushka Shetty, Tamannaah, Sathyaraj and Ramya Krishnan superstars. So, what are you waiting for? You can thank us later.

Banking on the success of this film Prabhas will be soon seen in an action-thriller titled Saaho directed by Sujeeth. To be released in 2018, Saaho will see Prabhas in a completely different look. The actor who was sporting his Baahubali look for almost five years has undergone a complete change in terms of his look. 

Rana Daggubati has chosen a political drama titled Nene Raju Nene Mantri  after the fantasy-action drama Baahubali 2: The Conclusion. The film's trailer was released a few days back and all that everyone can talk about is Rana's swag. He captures everyone's attention in the trailer and we can't wait to see his on-screen chemistry with Kajal Aggarwal who is paired opposite him.

Nenu Local

Released on 3rd February 2017, Nenu Local is a Telugu film that should definitely be watched. The actors Nani and Keerthy Suresh impress in this film directed by Trinadha Rao Nakkina which also stars Naveen Chandra and Posani Krishna Murali. With all the right commercial elements, Nenu Local is a film that would appeal to all. Nani will be soon seen in the movie Ninnu Kori which releases in July.


Based on the theme of revenge, Keshava stars Nikhil Siddhartha in the main lead. The actor's performance was highly praised. The film also stars Ritu Varma of Pellichoopulu fame, Isha Koppikar, Rao Ramesh and Vennela Kishore. Directed by Sudheer Varma, this film released on 19th May, 2017 and can be called one of the best suspense thrillers produced this year.


Pa. Paandi

Pa. Paandi, the directorial debut of actor-producer-singer Dhanush just proves that he excels at everything he does. Dhanush is a complete artist who also makes a special appearance in the film as the young version of Raj Kiran's character. Madonna Sebastian too makes a special appearance as the younger version of Revathi's character. A heart-warming movie, Pa. Paandi impressed fans. Dhanush will be back again this year with the movie Velai Illa Pattathari 2 releasing on 11th August, 2017. Dhanush will be seen reprising the role of Raghuvaran and from the looks of the trailer, VIP 2 will be a even bigger hit.


This Tamil movie is about several characters and how their lives in Chennai city are interconnected. Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, this thriller stars Sundeep Kishan, Regina Cassandra and Shree. This film has some beautifully crafted sequences that just leaves you mesmerized. If you haven't watched this film yet, you are in for a treat, friend!


Angamaly Diaries

A Lijo Jose Pellissery film, Angamaly Diaries is a rustic tale of youngsters in a small town named Angamaly in Kerala. Without any big known stars, this film was purely driven by debutants. Though a film based on the theme of violence the filmmaker managed to bring in elements of comedy. Prashant Pillai's music only amplifies the film to another level. Starring Antony Varghese, Reshma Rajan, Sarath Kumar and many others this film should not be missed at any cost.

Take Off

Another Malayalam film that manages to take a place in this list is Take Off. Directed by Mahesh Narayan, Take Off is based on a real-life incident of Indian nurses who get stuck in the war-torn region of Iraq during the 2014 ISIS invasion of Iraq. The film is filled with amazing performances by the actors like Parvathy, Kunchacko Boban and Fahad Faasil. This film manages to keep the audience engaged and all the credit for it goes to the entire team of the film.

While Parvathy is yet to do a film after this super-hit, Kunchacko and Fahadh have each done one film since then. While Kunchacko did Ramante Edanthottam, Fahadh Faasil's Role Model released on 23rd June, 2017. Fahadh also has Thondimuthalum Dhriksakshiyum releasing this month.



Hebbuli - BookMyShow

Loaded with high-octane fight sequences Hebbuli stars Kiccha Sudeep. With small doses of comedy and romance, Hebbuli is one of the best South Indian action movies of 2017.


Raajakumara - BookMyShow

This film is an all out Power Star show. Puneeth Rajkumar knows how to charm his fans and he was successful this time too with the film Raajakumara. Directed by Santhosh Anandram,  Raajakumara released in March of this year and can be called one of the best family dramas this year. Power Star will soon be seen in the movie Anjaniputra and you should be excited because the actor is a born entertainer.
