Lion Trailer: The Search Begins

What can’t we do with technology these days? Finding any kind of information we need on the Internet, connecting with people from all over the world virtually, getting to know more about places without actually being there, finding people across the globe – it is all possible with just a few clicks. We have become so dependent on technology, it is a wonder how people got anything done years ago. Technological innovation has made our lives more convenient. And in Garth Davis’ directorial debut Lion, it has reconnected the lead character with his long-lost family after 20 years, who he finds with the help of Google Earth.

Written by Luke Davies, the upcoming drama film is based on the book, A Long Way Home, by Saroo Brierley. The story is based on the author’s life, an Indian who was separated from his birth mother and brother, and adopted by an Australian family. The story is heartbreaking as you see a young boy, who falls asleep in a train, only to wake up and find it moving, miles away from his hometown. Plagued with poverty and the loss of his family, he wanders around, looking for scraps to eat, before a kind-hearted Australian family adopts him. Years later, Brierley attempts to search for his real family again and succeeds. The character of Saroo Brierley is portrayed by Dev Patel in the 2 hrs 9 mins movie. The movie brings the actor back to familiar territory, as he plays a lost boy, desperate to return to his family. Other members of the cast include Rooney Mara (from The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo), Nicole Kidman, Tannishtha Chatterjee (recently seen in unIndian), David Wenham (Faramir from the LOTR series), and Nawazuddin Siddiqui.

The movie is set to premiere at the upcoming Toronto International Film Festival and will release abroad on November 25, 2016. As of now, there is no information on the Indian release date. But you can watch the trailer of this heart-breaking movie here:
