Eid is finally here! The festive season begins! And what better way to celebrate a festival, than by watching a big film release? Apart from taking part in religious ceremonies and spending time with guests, people also wait for a big movie release. Some actors have a routine of releasing their films only on Eid, and this has worked in their favor. This may be because most Indians like spending their time and money by watching some good films wherever there’s a national holiday/other festivals. This year too, there are several big films lined for release. We list down the movies that release on the big Eid weekend.
Touted to be a comedy-drama, Maari will see Dhanush playing the role of a local goon. He will be seen in a veshti-clad, cigarette-smoking and twirled-moustache avatar mouthing the lines Senjiruven (Will finish you off).Touted to be a comedy caper, Maari is directed by Bajali Mohan of Kadhalil Sodhapuvadhu Eppadi and Vaayai moodi pesavum fame. The film also stars Kajal Aggarwal as his love interest. Maari is jointly produced by R. Sarath Kumar, Radikaa Sarath Kumar, Listin Stephen, and Dhanush’s production company, Wunderbar.
After enthralling the audience with Daivathinte Swantham Cleetus, Mammooty and director Marthandan team up for Acha Dhin. Keeping in mind the title and trailer of the film, it is safe to say that the film talks about a man from Jharkhand, Durga Prasad, living with his family in Kerala. This film has been scripted by AC Vijeesh, who had previously scripted Mammootty’s Lal Jose directorial "Immanuel". Featuring superstar Mammootty, this is undoubtedly one of the big releases of the week.

Touted to be a comedy entertainer, the story of the film revolves around Ahmed, a commoner and his funny antics. The game of football is also said to be a highlight in this film. Starring Unni Mukundan in the lead, the film is directed by debutant Muhsin Parari.The film also stars Sreenath Bhasi and Shine Tom Chacko,. The music of the movie is composed by Bijibal.
Another big release of this week is Dileep’s upcoming movie Love 24X7. Directed by Sreebala K Menon, Dileep will play the role of television journalist in the film. The film also stars veteran actress, Suhasini Manirathnam in a pivotal role. The debutant filmmaker, Sreebala is a reputed Malayalam author who is also the winner of the 2005 Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award. The debut filmmaker has previously assisted ace filmmaker Sathyan Anthikkad. The film also stars Nikhila Vimal, Sreenivasan, and prominent media personality Shashi Kumar in important roles.
