5 Malayalam Movies That Were A Complete Disaster In 2016

It is a proven fact that not every movie can be a hit at the box office even though it may have a stellar cast. A movie can have an incredible cast and crew, it can even have some melodious and peppy numbers, but if it is destined to fail, it will. This year, we saw some Malayalam movies that created quite an impression on us when their trailer released but when they finally hit the cinemas, they failed to create a lasting impact on people. Anyway, hit films and flop films are part and parcel of life in the film industry. The year 2016 has seen some disastrous Malayalam movies so far.

Here is our list of 5 Malayalam movies that put up a flop show this year.

Kasaba - BookMyShow

Nithin Renji Panicker’s directorial debut, Kasaba, with Mammootty in the lead role as a Police Inspector seemed like a dream debut for any director. However, the movie was a disaster when it released. It received mixed reviews but you can’t deny the fact that it lacked a story. There were too many moments of over-the-top heroism which became too hard to digest.

Valleem Thetti Pulleem Thetti

Despite having a truckload of good actors like Kunchacko Boban, Renji Panicker and Manoj K. Jayan, this movie lived up to its title ‘Valleem Thetti Pulleem Thetti’. The movie offered neither comic relief nor a good script.

Welcome To Central Jail

This is yet another movie that was made solely for hardcore fans, in this case, of Dileep. The movie directed by Sundar Dass lacked a good story and a good screenplay. Some scenes of the movie looked cooked up and barely convincing. The movie did have a few moments of comedy but that was it.

White - BookMyShow

The movie had everything – Mammootty in the lead role, Bollywood beauty Huma Qureshi, and director Uday Anantham of the hit movie Kerala Cafe (2009) fame. But what the film didn’t have was a good story, good direction and a good screenplay. Nothing could have saved this movie from being a flop, not even the picturesque beauty of London captured by its cinematographer. The dialogues in the movie were so vague that it made people wonder why a much-loved veteran and National Award-winning actor like Mammukka would agree to do such a film.

 Shajahanum Pareekuttiyum

This was another movie which had all the ingredients to make it a perfect comedy. With Kunchacko Boban, Jayasurya, Amala Paul and Aju Varghese in the cast, the movie was expected to be an out-and-out comedy flick. However, Boban Samuel, who gave us the hit comedy Romans in 2013, just could not get it right this time.
