The smoldering Malayalam actor Prithviraj is an artist we absolutely love to see perform on-screen. The son of late superstar Sukumaran and actress Mallika Sukumaran was born on 16th October, 1982. He completed most of his schooling in Kerala and later moved to Australia to complete his Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology at the University of Tasmania. It was during this time that he was called to shoot for the movie Nandanam opposite Navya Nair by Director Ranjith Balakrishnan. Nandanam, which released in 2002, earned him rave reviews for his performance and there’s been no looking back since. The ease with which he tackles every genre of films is amazing.
It is his striking personality and good looks that earned him a huge fan following. Let’s have a look at what makes Prithviraj the Youth icon of Malayalam film industry:

His debut film Nandanam did manage to get him noticed but it was his action-thriller Vasthavam (2006) that made him the youngest actor to bag the Kerala State Film Award for Best Actor at the age of 24. He once again won the State award for best actor in 2012 for Ayalum Njanum Thammil and Celluloid. He went on to act in many critically acclaimed movies like Swapnakoodu (2003), Akale (2004). The 2006 Classmates turned out to be his biggest hit. With an ensemble cast of Prithviraj, Jayasurya, Kavya Madhavan, Narain and Indrajith, the film became an instant hit in Mollywood. His recent Malayalam hit movies include Urumi (2011), Mumbai Police(2013), Ennu Ninte Moideen (2015) and Pavada (2016). His character in Mumbai Police resulted in a lot of debates and discussion about his character. When a lot of mainstream actors hesitated to do the role of a closeted gay man at that time, Prithviraj took the bold decision to step into the character of Antony Moses in Mumbai Police, which defied all the norms of a Malayalam movie hero. In 2017, he acted in the films – Adam Joan, Tiyaan, Ezra, and Vimaanam. Ranam – Detroit Crossing, Koode and My Story were a few of his recent film projects. In Koode, as an emotionally fragile Joshua, Prithviraj delivered one of his career best performances.
His upcoming film is the movie 9.
Our destiny lies above us.

He has acted in many Tamil movies too. His Tamil debut was a role of a villain in the movie Kana Kandaen in 2005. His other Tamil movies include Parijatham (2006), Mozhi(2007), Satham Podathey (2007), Kannamoochi Yenada (2007) and the Mani Ratnam movie Raavanan (2010) along with Vikram and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.
He has acted in Bollywood too but has not had the kind of luck he has in Mollywood. His dream debut Aiyyaa opposite Rani Mukherjee may have tanked but it got him noticed in Bollywood. He recently acted in the movie Naam Shabana which also starred Akshay Kumar and Taapsee Pannu.

When the news of him directing a film was announced, we couldn’t help but wonder if there is anything that Prithviraj cannot do. He is currently bust directing his debut film Lucifer which stars none other than the Malayalam film superstar Mohanlal.
His upcoming movies include 9 and Kaaliyan. Prithviraj Production’s maiden production titled 9 will release on 7th February, 2019 but there is not much information on Kaaliyan as of now.
