Right from Pollywood all the way down to Kollywood, movie fans will be heading to theatres to watch their favorite stars in action on the big screen. So don’t miss out on the movie mania of the week. While Bala is still running strong in theatres, Bollywood’s theme of this week is love. You can either catch a sweet romantic comedy in Motichoor Chaknachoor starring Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Athiya Shetty or a tragic love story in Marjaavan featuring Sidharth Malhotra, Tara Sutaria, and Riteish Deshmukh as a deadly villain who tries who break them apart.
Hollywood fans will be spoilt for choice this week. With three big releases, viewers must make the choice between Ford v Ferrari, Charlie’s Angels, and Motherless Brooklyn, or watch them all. Ford v Ferrari is a biographical drama starring Oscar winners Matt Damon and Christian Bale while Charlie’s Angels is a reboot of the popular series, directed by Elizabeth Banks. Motherless Brooklyn stars Edward Norton as a private detective with Tourette syndrome who is out to solve a murder.
It’s action time in Kollywood with the release of Vijay Sethupathi’s Sangathamizhan. Makkal Selvan has had a pretty good year so far and he ends 2019 with this action drama where he can be seen battling the bad guys. If you’re not watching this, you’re probably headed to Action, starring Vishal Krishna Reddy and Tamannaah Bhatia. We suggest you catch them both!
Starring Sundeep Kishan and Hansika Motwani in prominent roles, this week’s Tollywood special is the action-comedy Tenali Ramakrishna BA.BL directed by G. Nageswara Reddy. The film focuses on the life of a struggling lawyer and how he deals with a serious case in “Tenali style”.
Besides action, comedy and romance, this week’s releases also include two thrillers and they’re both releasing in Mollywood. Jack & Daniel stars Dileep Pillai and Anju Kurian in vital roles, while Helen is the story of a girl who goes missing, prompting her worried father (Lal) to go in search of her.
Sandalwood’s biggest movie release of the week is P. Vasu’s romantic action drama Aayushmanbhava, starring Dr. Shiva Rajkumar, Anant Nag, Rachita Ram and Suhasini. The story follows a disguised man who kidnaps the titleholder of a joint family’s possessions.
After striking great chemistry in Kala Shah Kala, Pollywood superstars Sargun Mehta and Binnu Dhillon reunite for the romantic drama Jhalle, which follows the story of two people with similar psychological disorders and how they fall “madly” in love while dealing with their illnesses.
Marathi cinema’s release of the week reopens a chapter in Maratha history. Digpal Lanjekar’s Fatteshikast is set during the reign of Shivaji Maharaj and depicts his fight against the Mughals. The movie stars Chinmay Mandlekar, Mrinal Kulkarni and Mrunmayee Deshpande among others.
Bengali cinema’s latest release is a modern retelling of one of Rabindranath Tagore’s classic novels. Ghawre Baire Aaj chronicles a story about a passionate romance as well as clashing ideologies. It stars Anirban Bhattacharya, Jisshu Sengupta and Tuhina Das in central roles.
