Bad-ass-ery: (noun) Engaging in seemingly impossible activities and achieving success in a manner that renders all onlookers completely awestruck. We’ve all got those uber-cool, absolutely brilliant characters from films who we desperately want to be. There’s Tony Stark, kicking some serious baddie behind in Iron Man, Jason Statham beating down twenty people senseless, singlehandedly, and Hannibal Lecter in general, just being cool. Since movies are replete with these kinds of characters, we figured we’d handpick a couple of their best moments. You’re welcome.

A cinematic milestone in itself, Scarface is one of Al Pacino’s finest performances. Tony Montana is the go-to guy when you need to blow up a door in someone’s face. Literally. Say hello to my little friend, he said! Well, hello indeed.

The Godfather

Mario Puzo’s bestselling novel and its film adaptation are quite handy. The movie also doubles up as the Ultimate Guide to Badassery. Let’s face it, we’ve all tried this line somewhere or the other.

Pulp Fiction

I’m Winston Wolf. I solve problems. Enough said, son.

Who could ever forget “This is Sparta!”? The greatest cry ever shouted in the history of mankind, right before kicking a fellow man into an endless pit? Pretty badass, we agree.

The Avengers

Since each of the Avengers weren’t so awesome on their own, Joss Whedon figured, why not put them in a circle and get them to fend off an army of aliens? Should be cool. Hell yes!

It’s a pretty bad idea to kidnap the daughter of the man who’s trained Batman, who’s a Jedi master, the leader of the A-Team and is Aslan. That being said, he has skills, a very particular set of skills, and he will find you and kill you.

The Dark Knight

This particular scene was chilling for one reason, and one reason only – The Joker. The Clown Prince of Crime, the ultimate badass laughing right into Batman’s seriously annoyed face. Heath Ledger personified badassery in Christopher Nolan’s masterpiece.

Any scene from The A-Team

Seriously, any scene from the A-Team deserves a mention in the top ten badass moments in cinema. Whether it’s flying tanks (yes, you read that right) or stealing planes, this was some next level stuff. Also, the Spanish dub of this film is called Mucho Badasstico. And yes, Hannibal, we love it when a plan comes together too.

Gary Oldman in Leon was a treat to watch, gunning down a couple of people while Beethoven is playing, acting like he was conducting a symphony. Pure genius.

The scene from Watchmen when Rorschach burns another inmate alive is slightly scary, but scores full marks for a seriously badass takedown. Also, how could we ever forget the lines that followed, “I’m not locked in here with you. You’re locked in here with me.”

So there you have it, some of the most badass moments in cinema. Please let us know what are your favourite moments in the comments below!
