Ajay Devgn's production – Parched released its trailer this week. The film looks compelling with a story that is raw yet very capable of moving you to tears. The film directed by Leena Yadav has already picked up many awards at the Toronto International Film Festival, 2015 where it premiered.
Parched is the story of four village women – Rani (Tannishtha Chatterjee), Janki (Lehar Khan), Lajjo (Radhika Apte), and Bijli (Surveen Chawla) – and their struggles in life. The trailer gives us a glimpse of the issues that these women face. The film deals with antiquated and ridiculous traditions, issues like forced child marriage, spousal and familial rape, and physical and emotional abuse. With a hard-hitting storyline and an uncompromising approach, Leena Yadav's film looks soul-stirring.
The trailer offers a peek into the hard work the director has put in and her brilliance. Every scene is well-cut and every shot brings out the actors' emotions, beautifully. The fact that the movie won 18 awards should give you an idea of the kind of success the film has already witnessed.
Although, a while back Parched was in the news for Radhika Apte's sex scene, there's so much more that the film has to offer. Let's hope the movie is able to impress the sensibilities of the Indian audience. We are looking forward to the release of the film on September 23rd.
