Verdict: Yet Another Album That Is Fully Filmy

Directed by Shreyas Talpade, the upcoming drama Poster Boys is the official remake of the Marathi film Poshter Boyz. It stars the Deol brothers (Sunny and Bobby) and Shreyas himself in the lead roles. The movie plot is quite quirky as it talks about three porters who discover their pictures on a poster promoting vasectomy. This leads to a chaos in their life. With such a content driven plot, no doubt, our expectation from the movie rises. The music in such films is therefore situational and used as a plot enhancer. The music of Poster Boys doesn’t boast of exceptional singing or experimental compositions; it is, in one word, filmy. Composed by an ensemble comprising Tanishk Bagchi, Rishi Rich, Sunai Marathe, Daler Mehndi, Shreyas Iyengar and Sonny Ravan, the album consists of four numbers; all different from each other.

Let’s review the songs one by one.

Kudiya Shehar Diya

An upgraded version of a song from one of Sunny Deol’s earlier films, Kudiya Shehar Diya is sung by the very energetic Daler Mehendi alongside the current sensation Neha Kakkar. Watch Sunny Paaji shake a leg alongside Eli Avram, while the song makes you nostalgic. It is a decent number for those who love fast paced Punjabi numbers.

Kendhi Menoo

With a hilarious choreography, Kendhi Menoo is a decent foot-tapping number with a typical catchy tune composed by Rishi Rich and sung by a group of singers comprising Yash Narvekar, Sukriti Kakar and Ikka.

Noor E Khuda

It seems the composers have taken inspiration from all the past Bollywood Sufi numbers and tried to recreate something unique. The song is soothing to the ears and if you are a Sufi lover, there is no reason why you wouldn’t put it on repeat mode.

The Poster Boys Anthem

It tries to be the next `Halla Bol` song as it tries to raise a voice against the system. More of a situational track, The Poster Boys Anthem would be apt for those who love loud music accompanied by screeching vocals.
