Some years go down as milestones in the careers of certain actors. Akshay Kumar struck gold with four blockbusters – Namastey London, Heyy Babyy, Bhool Bhulaiyaa, and Welcome a decade ago, while 2013 was all about Deepika Padukone. Her four films – Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, Race 2, Chennai Express, and Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela – were superhits and she even won awards for her performance in the Sanjay Leela Bhansali directorial.

If 2017 belonged to one actor, it has to be Rajkummar Rao. His next film – Shaadi Main Zaroor Aana – will be out this Friday. Let's take a look at the other impressive work he has done this year.

This one is headed to the Oscars. Here, Rao played the role of an honest government employee who sets up a voting booth in a village.

Bareilly Ki Barfi

If you thought that Rao could only excel in serious roles, watch this movie. His comic timing was spot-on and he outshone his costars, Ayushmann Khurrana and Kriti Sanon.

To look his part in the film, Rao starved himself. He survived on coffee and very little food while filming this Vikramaditya Motwane film and the outcome was a magnificent thriller.

The 32-year-old was completely unrecognizable as a 324-year-old man in this Sushant and Kriti starrer. Although he had a special appearance in the film, he still made an impact.

Behen Hogi Teri

Rao tried his hand at a rom-com with this Ajay K Pannalal film. It, unfortunately, did not fare well but the actor was excellent as always.

Bonus: Omerta

Another Rajkummar-starrer we caught this year is Hansal Mehta’s Omerta, which was the closing film at the Jio MAMI Mumbai Film Festival 2017. Rajkummar’s portrayal of a terrorist was so real, he actually scared the daylights out of the audience. We can only hope the film releases sans censor cuts next year.
