Asche Abar Shabor: Film Review – A gripping thriller

Verdict: A brilliant murder mystery that will keep you on the edge of your seat.

Shabor Dasgupta is back to solve yet another exciting murder mystery. Arindam Sil came back too, with a great murder thriller titled “Asche Abar Shabor.”

What’s Asche Abar Shabor About:

The movie begins with a rave party and the sudden rape and murder of a girl named Sophia. Thus enters Shabor Dasgupta (Saswata Chatterjee) and his team comprising Nandalal Roy (Subhrajit Dutta) and Sanjib Das (Gaurav Chakraborty) to help solve the murder. On the other hand is Rinku (Diti Saha) who is in love with a man 18 years elder to her – Bijoy Sen (Indraneil Sengupta).

Rinku’s parents (Mr. Roy and Sharon) are divorced and are with their respective partners. Bijoy and his wife also live separately. But one fine morning, Rinku is found dead in a similar fashion as Sophia. The murder led to a mass outrage and Bijoy is considered guilty for it. Then another murder takes place in a shady hotel, with the pattern of murder being common. With 3 murders and a serial killer in the open, can Shabor and his team solve the mystery and put the criminal behind bars? The movie slowly unfolds the mystery and joins all the dots.

What Works:

The actors in their respective roles were brilliant. Saswata Chatterjee as Inspector Shabor Dasgupta also did a splendid job. Although a very gripping thriller, there were slight comical dialogues which came as breathers. The movie was a complete package with a great storyline which did not falter for a single instance, keeping the suspense till the climax intact. The background score was also highly complementing. The pace of the movie was also good along with the picturization and editing being on point. The actors as a team complemented each other in every scene and together delivered a beautiful movie, keeping the audience hooked.

What Could Have Been Better:

The movie was almost perfect until the chase to catch the murderer in the climax scene which seemed just a tad bit too stretched. There were certain scenes in the end that did not seem of much importance.

Why You Should Watch it:

Arindam Sil’s Asche Abar Shabor has a brilliant storyline that will keep its audience on the edge for a complete 2 hours. It is a must-watch for all who love a good thriller.
