Verdict: Like a music video based on Tupac's life.

Anyone who follows hip-hop even a little bit hasn't been spared of the charm that is Tupac Shakur, especially the #90sKids. The guy is a legend to everyone who has heard his songs and know of his accomplishments. Many of Tupac's songs found their way to the Rock and Roll hall of fame. Tupac became one of the best-selling music artists in the world by selling over 37.5 million records in US and 75 million albums worldwide as of 2007. The singer was only 25 when he shot by unknown assailants on 7th September 1997 in Nevada. Although he was pronounced dead 6 days later, many fans continue to believe that Tupac is alive even today.

All Eyez on Me - BookMyShow Shot almost like a documentary, Demetrius Shipp Jr plays Tupac Shakur in this biopic. As most fans know, Tupac's mother Afeni Shakur (Danai Gurira), who was a Black Panther activist, was a big influence on his life and that has been portrayed so beautifully. In one scene, Afeni tells Tupac that black leaders are born with a bull's eye on their back. Tupac denies being a leader but then when the Vice President of America is talking about your revolutionary songs on national television, it's difficult to not consider oneself a revolutionary. Tupac was shot five times shortly but he bounced back. In an interview, Tupac answers a few questions based on his life, which include a certain rape and assault charge as well. It also takes us through his journey from his association with Interscope Records to his collaboration with Suge Knight and Death Row Records. The film also takes us through his personal struggles with being a victim of racism, prejudice, the backlash on some of his lyrics, his troubles with the law, his rivalries and his vision to use hip-hop for educating the brothers, as he puts it.

Directed by Benny Boom, All Eyez On Me almost feels like a music video with montages of Tupac's real life footage woven seamlessly within the film and a kickass soundtrack. The film includes a few of the most loved songs such as California Love, Hit Em Up, Hail Mary among others. The best thing about All Eyez On Me is that it does not take a stand and simply reports the life of the singer. No, I take that back. The best part is the casting – it is so perfect! Demetrius seems to have imbibed Tupac's mannerisms and the body language so well that you cannot imagine anyone else in that role, except maybe Tupac himself. The costumes are so detailed that if you were to search for a certain famous photo, you'll find Demetrius styled in the exact same way, including a photo of him where he flipped his middle finger for the paparazzi. Even the clothes he wore when he was shot were on point. This gives us an understanding that a lot of research has gone into the movie and must be appreciated. If you have the same love for Tupac as I do, the film might make you a bit emotional too.
