Baaghi 2: Film Review – Tiger Roars And Hits All The Right Notes

Verdict: Top-notch action meets nail-biting thriller.

Anyone and everyone who saw the first look of Baaghi 2 – where Tiger Shroff was sporting a buzz cut – could not help but compare him to the Jackie Shroff from the 80s and 90s. Tiger's journey in Bollywood has had its ups and downs. While his previous movies have been successful in showing us that Tiger is indeed the present king of action and dance, Baaghi 2 will surely be a turning point in his career, where he establishes himself as a master of all. The Ahmed Khan film has hit the theatres today and it boasts of a cast including the likes of Manoj Bajpayee, Randeep Hooda, and Prateik Babbar, who are known for powerful performances. Here's everything we have to say about it.

What's Baaghi 2 About:

Neha (Disha Patani) is outside a  playschool when she gets attacked by masked men, who run away with the car. Succumbing to the injuries, she slips into a coma. Two months after the incident, she is looking for some answers and calls her ex-boyfriend, Ronnie (Tiger Shroff), for help. Ronnie, aka Ranveer Pratap Singh, is an army officer stationed in Kashmir. He is infamous for his anger and dedication towards protecting the country. He travels to Goa to help Neha find her missing daughter, who was in the car stolen by the goons. His search throws him in the paths of the DIG of Goa played by Manoj Bajpayee and the recently transferred Inspector LSD (Randeep Hooda).

What Works:

Let's talk about the action first. Unlike the first Baaghi, the stunts in this movie were more polished and brutal. There is a variety of hand-to-hand combat with some bone-breaking sequences. The final fight is certainly something we have rarely seen in Bollywood. The director certainly deserves all praise for the action sequences, which will get your heart racing. But that's not all this movie has to offer. It is packed with twists (not just the physical kind) that will leave you with more questions as each one is answered. Even the songs add something to the movie, rather than distracting you from the story.

Tiger Shroff has proven he can do it all. He hits all the right notes in the emotional scenes and we already know that his dancing and fighting capabilities are unquestionable. He is also surrounded by veteran actors from the industry, including Darshan Kumaar and Deepak Dobriyal, who are brilliant performers and his own performance is at par with them.

What Could've Been Better:

The big reveal at the end feels too rushed and it would have helped if the movie was a bit longer. We would've also liked to see more of Randeep Hooda in this film.

Why You Should Watch This Movie:

If you are a Tiger Shroff fan, you don't need the review to tell you to watch this movie. For everyone who has been waiting for a good Bollywood action flick with a plot that keeps you hooked, your wait has now ended. This one has a powerful cast, story, and world-class action sequences. What more could you ask for this long weekend?
