Verdict:  Rajkummar gives a terrific performance, yet again.

Rakhi brother – a relationship devised for brotherless girls and sisterless brothers. It is a very sweet thing because it lets people experience the bond that they could not experience naturally. It is probably stronger than what siblings share. This film, however, takes into consideration how this relationship has been exploited in a mohalla of Lucknow, as they have tagged every guy and girl from the society as brothers and sisters.

Shiv Nautiyal aka Gattu (Rajkummar Rao) has a childhood crush on his neighbor, Binni Arora (Shruti Hassan), who has no idea about it. His father, Mr. Nautiyal (Darshan Jariwala), believes that the neighborhood is family and all girls are either mothers or sisters. He often repeats the statement – "Mohalle ki ladkiya maabehen hoti hai". Gattu somehow manages to ask Binni out and after a few attempts, they start dating. Everything was going fine until Mr. Nautiyal sees Binni and Bhura (Herri Tangri), Gattu's best friend, together and assumes they are having an affair. One misunderstanding leads to another and the whole neighborhood knows about this affair. Because of this, Binni's brother (Ninad Kamat) finds a perfect groom for her and gets her engaged with Rahul (Gautam Gulati). Now Binni has two perspective grooms – Rahul and Bhura whereas Gattu is considered her muh bola bhai. What follows is a hilarious and confusing tale.

Behen Hogi Teri - BookMyShow

Rajkummar Rao is a treat to watch in this one as well. He never ceases to entertain his audience and he is all that his character required him to be – funny, sad, drunk, worried and stupid. Shruti Hassan looks perfect as the small town high headed girl but average when it comes to acting. Ranjeet and Gulshan Grover have a short and sweet part as gangsters who are cuter than scary. Herri Tangri, who plays Gattu's best friend is a surprise package. His character has added the much-needed humor to the movie and he has pulled it off hilariously. Darshan Jariwala, Ninad Kamat and other characters gave what the script asked for. You cannot rate down the film basis the actors, it was the execution that probably scores average.

The storyline has the potential to turn into a super fun movie but the script did not do justice to it. The characters were good but weren't detailed enough, except Gattu's of course. The high headed Binni who is called the firecracker turns out to be the submissive one. Some stereotypes have been exaggerated and repeated unnecessarily. The film however, is a decent attempt and has its share of fun, comedy, and cliches.

Behen Hogi Teri - BookMyShow

The plot of Behen Hogi Teri is not new to Indian audience but it still has a huge scope in the romantic comedy market. However, the script doesn't live up to the expectations that were built by the trailer and Rajkummar. There are moments where you'll laugh out loud and scenes that will get you cracking but the film stretches a lot initially and winds up pretty fast. The first half keeps you interested but the subplots overlap each other in the second half and a few things are left incomplete or finished in a hurry. Behen Hogi Teri has its share of fun and laughter so you would not get bored.

There are a few numbers in the movie that you'll hum especially the Sherawaali version of Kaala Chashma called Jai Maa. The album has all kinds of songs – the romantic number by Arijit Singh, Tera Hoke Rahoon, the peppy remake of Jaanu and the sad number Tenu na bol Pawaan.
