Verdict: Finally a Bollywood sequel that lives up to the expectations.
Four years after the release of Fukrey and its success party, the four fukras have returned to the theaters and they promise a fun filled 2 hrs and 11 minutes long ride. Fukrey Returns has retained the exact same cast as the previous movie and they are even more entertaining this time.
What's Fukrey Returns About:
The film starts with a musical flashback of Fukrey and takes us one year ahead of where Fukrey left us. Bholi Punjaban (Richa Chadda) is in jail and Hunny (Pulkit Samrat), Choocha (Varun Sharma), Zafar (Ali Fazal) and Lali (Manjot Singh) are living a life off Choocha's dreams. Hunny is still able to interpret his dreams and is winning lotteries. On the other hand, Bholi has gotten her bail by promising the minister 10 crore rupees and a promise that she will keep no matter what. Now that she is out of jail, she makes sure she gets the mayhem back in their lives.
Fukrey Returns is all about fukrapanti. Choocha dreams and Hunny finds a way to make money out of it. It is as dreamy as it gets but this time with some added hallucinations. The movie gives justice to its genre i.e. comedy thriller. There are fun times in the movie and there's comedy during the serious scenes, even in the thrills. It is a roller coaster ride of goofiness attached to stupidity which is then mixed with great comic timing, and this has resulted in a mad, mad movie.
Fukrey Returns is a kind of movie that is highly dependent on the writing and then the acting, the film scores full marks in both the departments. The execution of the movie is commendable with every actor sticking to their character and the writers adding a punch in even the serious-most situations. The songs of the movie are peppy and will stay with you, especially "Tu mera bhai nai hai".
Choocha is the soul of the movie and he is hilarious. Varun Sharma might get typecast for playing this character but he has done an excellent job here. Pulkit Samrat is great as Hunny along with the other two fukras – Lali and Zafar. Pankaj Tripathy has portrayed his role so effortlessly, it's crazy how he holds on to his characters. Richa Chadda's acting can never be questioned, she is as amazing as she always is. The best part of the movie is that the original cast has been retained, which has enhanced the relatability to the plot.
What Could Have Been Better:
The movie is goofy, funny and doesn't make much sense in the real world but that is what fukrey is all about. So, if a person is not in for fun and entertainment, and wants to find the meaning of life in a movie, Fukrey Returns might not be their kinda movie.
Why You Should Watch This Movie:
If you want to laugh out loud for straight two hours then you must watch Fukrey Returns this weekend. All the characters have their own quirks and the film is exactly how you expect it to be i.e. entertaining af. The people who made Fukrey a sleeper hit along with the fans should not miss the movie. Period.
