Verdict: A depiction of the murky side of the film industry with added mystery and thrill.

There are several movies that throw light on the darker side of the entertainment industry and one more movie was added to the list this week. Presented by Pahlaj Nihalani, Julie 2 started with a long disclaimer about it being a work of fiction, however, the events of the movie do look similar to the life of actor, Nagma.

What's Julie 2 About:

The film revolves around Julie, a simple girl who dreams of becoming an actor. She learns everything, acquires every talent required to become a star, but is not willing to compromise to the dark side of the entertainment industry.

What Works:

Julie 2 keeps the story mysterious right until the end. The story moves back and forth in time to unfold certain aspects, which add to the thrill. The plot is not limited to her career alone and has much more to offer.

The presence of many talented actors like Ravi Kishan, Pankaj Tripathi, and Aditya Srivastava has definitely helped the movie as their characters, in spite of being supporting, are very strong. Raai Laxmi as Julie plays her part effortlessly. She looks beautiful and carries the role of a struggling actor who later becomes a star with much ease.

What Could Have Been Better:

The treatment of the movie makes it feel like it is based during the 90s, but certain references like a Rs 2000 note contradict the same. The timeline has not been mentioned throughout the film and this flaw can thus be overlooked. The songs of the movie are not very impressive either.

Why You Should Watch The Movie:

If you like movies about movies and the film industry, then you can definitely watch this one. Generally, the movies based on the sneaky side of the industry are softer in tone, but Julie 2 doesn't hold back at all.
