Verdict: An intriguing story that will invoke the patriot in you.
It is the 71st year of Indian independence and Bollywood is celebrating the occasion with the release of two of the most highly awaited movies of the year. Theatres are going to be houseful this Independence Day with movies that revolve around fighting corruption and fighting for freedom. After doing films like Aiyaari and Parmanu, both Manoj Bajpayee and John Abraham are back with another movie, Satyameva Jayate.
What’s Satyameva Jayate About:
The movie revolves around Vir (John Abraham), a vigilante who is burning corrupt police officers alive. He annihilates them with style and leaves no trace. After two murders, this case of serial killing is given to a no-nonsense and a ruthlessly honest police officer DCP Shivansh (Manoj Bajpayee). The story proceeds as Shivansh tries to catch Vir and Vir continues to avenge his father by killing corruption.
The movie stands true to its title. There is no polishing or propaganda involved even as the movie targets corruption in the police force. The two main leads of the film have imbibed their characters like they own it. We have seen Manoj Bajpayee in many avatars and he plays a cop with such finesse that you forget that this man is actually an actor. John Abraham plays the character of a grieving son who is livid and it shows in his eyes in every single scene. And not to mention, he looks amazing as a serial killer too. Debutante Aisha Sharma has a short and sweet character that she carries off well.
The story of the movie has more twists than one can imagine. It is thrilling, intriguing, emotional, and entertaining. There are too many killer dialogues in the movie and Manoj Bajpayee delivering a few of them is an added bonus.
The songs of the movie are hummable, danceable, and watchable too. The background music of this film is a plus, as it only enhances the movie from the beginning right until the post-credits. Satyamev Jayate is a complete package because it entertains you, cracks you up, makes you groove, and leaves you with a strong message.
What Could Have Been Better:
The movie touches upon one of the most famous subjects in cop movies – corruption. This movie, while it stands true to the subject, becomes a tad dramatic at times. But then that’s the beauty of Bollywood movies, isn’t it?
Why You Should Watch:
If you are someone who likes to awaken the patriot in you once in a while, this is the movie you should watch ASAP. John Abraham and Manoj Bajpayee have killed it with rich dialogues and hardcore action in this thriller that is backed by an emotional story. We highly recommend you to watch this film with your family and friends. Here’s wishing you all a happy Independence Day, guys!
