Verdict: A laughter ride with the Deol Family, for your entire family.
After a gap of five long years, the three Deols have again come together for the third installment of their action-comedy movie franchise Yamla Pagla Deewana. With a totally different storyline this time, they promise to get back all the laughter with Yamla Pagla Deewana Phir Se.
What’s Yamla Pagla Deewana Phir Se About:
The movie starts with the introduction of an ancient ayurvedic medicine that was developed centuries ago called Vajrakawach. The medicine has miraculous effects and can cure everything from pimples to impotency. Leading pharmaceutical companies are trying to get their hands on the original formula but their attempts at creating the same go in vain. The composition of the medicine lies with Pooran (Sunny Deol), an ayurvedic doctor who occasionally shows off his strength by pulling a couple of tractors. Pooran has a loving yet jobless brother Kaala (Bobby Deol) who aspires to go to Canada and keeps persuading his elder brother to sell the formula. Another person living in the house is Parmar (Dharmendra). He is a lawyer and a charmer. Cheeku (Kriti Kharbanda), an M.B.B.S doctor, visits Pooran for a week to learn Ayurveda from him. Her visit changes a lot of things.
It is always a treat to watch the Deol trio together on screen. Their chemistry together makes this series extra special. Dharmendra’s charm and swag, Bobby’s goofiness and Sunny paaji flexing his muscle to fight multiple goons singlehandedly, you name it and the movie has it. Everything is over the top and that is what makes this movie all the more entertaining.
The leading lady of the movie is Kriti Kharbanda and she fits perfectly in a role of an innocent and pretty doctor. Sunny Deol is again the good brother and his dhai kilo ka hath is just killing it (not literally) throughout the movie. There are a lot of small characters in the movie and all of them have their own hilarious quirks. The film also has quite a few cameos and they raise both the interest and fun level of the second half. The movie has a good dose of comedy, a little bit of romance and the mandatory action, all that you expect from a YPD franchise movie.
What Could Have Been Better:
While the film delivers almost everything you expect of it, the editing of the movie is a bit off. You can see that the color correction is not on point, affecting the all over movie watching experience.
Why You Should Watch:
For all the craziness. The series is known for its crazy characters, mindless comedy, and Sunny Deol’s dhai kilo ka hath – this film has plenty of everything. In addition, there are cameos and Sunny paaji pulling two fully accelerated tractors. Need we say more? Just book the tickets.
