Verdict: A suspenseful action entertainer.
One of the most anticipated film this year starring the big kings of Kannada film industry – Shiva Rajkumar and Kiccha Sudeep – is here. Accompanying them are Amy Jackson, Saranya Ponvannan and Meka Srikanth in the supporting roles. Directed by Prem, this movie does justice to the hype surrounding its release and promises to deliver an action-packed thriller to their dedicated fans.
What’s The Villain About:
The characters of the film are inspired by the Indian epic Ramayana. The Villain tells the story of Ram (Kiccha Sudeep), a weapons smuggler, and Rammaya (Shiva Rajkumar). A flashback about Ram’s past reveals that he was in love with Janaki (Amy Jackson). His mother (Saranya Ponvannan) had passed away when he was a little child and his father had died of a heart attack.
Being at the height of his criminal career, Ram soon rises to dominance in the underworld and assumes the position of India’s most wanted man. The police try their best to capture him but Ram always outwits them. Rammaya, on the other hand, is also searching for him but only to fulfill a promise that he had made to Ram’s mother. Rammaya knows the pain of living without a mother so he made a vow to find Ram and deliver him to her. But this doesn’t seem all that simple as Ram is an expert conman and excels in living in the shadows.
For the first time in Sandalwood’s history, Kiccha Sudeep and Shiva Rajkumar are both sharing the screen as leads and both of them have given exceptional performances to their devoted fans. There are numerous groovy music numbers composed by Arjun Janya. The director has treated the film mindfully and has given equal importance to Sudeep’s and Shivarajkumar’s characters and has smartly catered to their audience’s needs equally!
What Could’ve Been Better:
The VFX made the film seem a bit exaggerated in places. We would’ve liked to see more details in Amy Jackson‘s character. A little shorter run-time would’ve made the film even more enjoyable.
Why You Should Watch:
Watching two beloved Kannada superstars on the same screen is a treat and an opportunity which you shouldn’t miss. The Villain is an entertainer that you can enjoy with your family this festive season. Happy Dussehra!
