Verdict: Another Gem From the Fahadh-Dileesh Combo.

After the stupendous success of Maheshinte Prathikaram, the actor-turned-director Dileesh Pothan became an overnight success. The film was a massive hit and now it’s considered to be one of the milestones in Malayalam film industry. So, it’s pretty obvious that Thondimuthalum Dhriksakshiyum was weighed down by towering expectations. Does the film manage to meet those expectations? Well! You will need to further read the review to know the answer.

At times, it’s very funny how fate brings two people together and the circumstances in which they fall in love. In the case of Prasad (Suraj Venjaramoodu) and Sreeja (Nimisha Sajayan), fate comes in the form of a pregnancy test strip. Yes! You read it right. The way things lead to their inter-caste marriage is so convincing that you already feel a connect with both the characters and get all the more excited to see what happens next. The stereotypical problems of inter-caste marriage force them to shift from Vaikom to Kasaragod. Both of them have to go through a lot of struggles as the means for their livelihood are not going as planned. On a regular day, while they travel in a bus, a thief (Fahadh Faasil) whose name is also Prasad (not a coincidence though) tries his luck and attempts to snatch Sreeja's taalimala (gold chain) but gets caught and in panic, he swallows the gold chain. The thief is then taken to the police station where A.S.I Chandran (Alencier Ley) prepares the charge sheet. What happens afterwards forms the crux of the film.

Thondimuthalum Dhriksakshiyum - BookMyShow

Fahadh delivers yet another knockout performance. The rich nuances of the actor make us believe that his character is a born criminal. Suraj polished performance has once again proved that he is among those few actors who can deliver exactly what the script demands. Alencier Ley cements his position stronger as the most dependable supporting actor. The female lead Nimisha Sajayan puts us in a doubt whether this is her debut movie as she delivers a performance which is not less than that of a seasoned actress. The rest of the cast perfectly holds the mood of the film, especially the one who plays the role of S.I and the cop who is mainly seen in mufti.

Director Dileesh Pothan has gone one step ahead of Maheshinte Prathikaram in terms of the realistic treatment given to the film. Writer Sajeev Pazhoor has created the characters in such a way where everyone collectively is the protagonist of the film. And to add on, we have the dialogues written by the creative director Syam Pushkaran. The frames set by Rajeev Ravi have played a huge role in making the film look more real. Bijibal’s music is again not the one which acts as a filler in the story but rather takes the story forward.
