Vimaanam Film Review - BookMyShow

What Is Vimaanam About

Vimaanam is about a boy fascinated by aircraft and dreams of building one. The boy struggles all his growing up years owing to his hearing impairment but does not give up on his dream. The boy grows up to be a youngster who everyone calls Venkaty (Prithviraj Sukumaran). Supporting his dreams of building a two-seater aircraft is Janaki (Durga Krishna), Roger Paapan (Alencier Ley) his Uncle Murugan (Sudheer Karamana).

While he struggles to build an aircraft he is also faced with the challenge that comes in the form of Janaki’s Family who disapproves of their closeness. Will Venkaty be able to fulfill his dream of flying his aircraft with his love Janaki right beside him? Find out in a theatre near you.

What Works

Prithviraj proves his acting ability yet again. As a versatile actor, Prithvi plays the role of a hearing-impaired man in Vimaanam and does it well. The debutante actress Durga Krishnan surprises everyone with her incredible screen presence. Durga has used her dancing skills perfectly well in the film and you can see from her expressions, body movement and the way her eyes move how good a classical Indian dancer she is. The other supporting cast members like Alencier Ley Lopez, Sudheer Karamana, Saiju Kurup and others do their job well too.

What Could’ve Been Better

Overall, a perfect family entertainer, the film had very few flaws. While towards the end of the film, you are filled with emotions, the same can’t be said for the entire film. Somewhere along the way, the story slows down.

Why You Should Watch This Movie

Inspired by a real-life story, Vimaanam needs to be watched to find out about the man who inspired this film. Another reason to watch Vimaanam is the fresh pairing of Prithviraj and Durga. Have fun this long weekend. And Merry Christmas.
