What’s Up Lagna: Film Review –  A Love Story That Deals With Real Problems

Verdict: A feel-good story with a fantastic performance by the cast.

For all those who love a good love story where love conquers above all but fail to find stories which are realistic, your wait is over. It is very difficult to find a prince to rescue you from a tower or the one who wakes you up with a true love's kiss. You will agree with us when we say that problems in relationships have evolved with time but no one seems to be talking about it. In the time where we focus on our careers a little more than on our family, What's Up Lagna works as an entertaining awakening of real problems in relationships today. As we try to find that balance between work and life, this movie offers you a solution.

What's What's Up Lagna About:

Aakash Pradhan (Vaibhav Tatwawadi) and Ananya Mantri (Prarthana Behere) share a cab to Nashik. Ananya forgets her pen drive in the cab and when Aakash comes back to give it her, their love story begins. Both of them are as opposite as they can be. One works in an IT company while the other is an actress. One is a complete Type A who likes to keep everything in order and is a bit of a clean freak while the other is as messy as they come. In spite of their differences, they come together and eventually get married. The trouble begins when both of them focus on their career and work in different shifts and slowly, due to lack of communication, start drifting apart.

What works:

Achieving a balance between work and life is a problem we all face and this movie addresses that issue. At no point does the movie say that the woman should give up her career or that following our dreams is wrong. It instead focuses on how love is one thing that has the power to conquer all issues. Vaibhav Tatwawadi and Prarthana Behere work really well together and make the story believable. Even the supporting characters like the parents of Aakash and Ananya do a fantastic job in taking the story forward. Vikram Gokhale as Daji Kaka is a delight to watch on screen.

What could have been better:

The movie takes a little while to pick up the pace but your patience is more than rewarded as the movie progresses.

Why you should watch this movie:

The movie deals with a very serious issue in a very light-hearted way. The actors come together and work really well with each other. You are bound to leave the theatre with a smile on your face. If you feel that language is a barrier, the English subtitles will certainly make it an enjoyable experience. The movie is a must-watch for anyone who wants some entertainment at the end of a grueling week.
