Verdict: 2.0 is the perfect sequel to an extraordinary movie.
2018’s most awaited movie 2.0 starring Rajinikanth, Akshay Kumar and Amy Jackson in the lead has hit the screens. As a sequel to the perfect and out-of-this-world Enthiran, 2.0 is undoubtedly one of the most awaited films this year. The film also features Adil Hussain, Sudhanshu Pandey, and Kalabhavan Shajon along with many others. The movie is written and directed by India’s one of the top filmmakers Shankar and has been produced by A. Subaskaran and Raju Mahalingam under the banner Lyca Productions. 2.0 gives a superhero aura to Rajni’s iconic ‘Chitti’ and he nails it perfectly.
What’s 2.0 About:
The movie starts with an unknown man committing suicide on a mobile signal tower in a secluded area. Next day, all the mobile phones in Chennai disappear mysteriously including scientist Vaseegaran’s (Rajinikanth) phone and the entire city is in panic mode. Soon, owners of mobile companies start getting murdered and the Government officials and scientists meet to find a solution. Vaseegaran who has already witnessed a giant mobile phone bird destroying a mobile tower suggests bringing Chitti back to fight this invincible force. After many objections stating Chitti’s history, Minister (Adil Hussain) finally agrees to put Chitti in action. Vaseegaran, his humanoid assistant Nila (Amy Jackson) and Chitti get into a mission to destroy the bird. During the process, they figure out that Pakshirajan (Akshay Kumar) is the force behind all the destruction. Though they succeed in neutralizing his energy, he is freed by Dhinendra Bohra (Sudhanshu Pandey), a scientist who wants to avenge his father’s death and holds Vasi and Chitti responsible for it. Pakshi returns fiercer and Vasi and Chitti are rendered powerless.
Be it as Vaseegaran, Chitti or 2.0 – Rajinikanth is simply out of the world. He has proved yet again that there is no better entertainer in India than him. Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar were both outstanding in their roles and could very well be considered one of the best film rivalries in Indian cinema. Amy Jackson is perfect as Nila, the humanoid robot. The best part of the film is its technical side. Shankar has succeeded in presenting an Indian film with some world-class VFX and 3D effects. In fact, the film’s cinematographer Nirav Shah, editor Anthony, VFX supervisor Srinivas Mohan and sound engineer Resul Pookutty have complimented him in making it a success. A. R. Rahman’s music and background music are equally good. The actual sequences, especially around the climax, are par excellence. There are no unnecessary songs or romance throughout the movie which makes it a smooth watch. In short, 2.0 is a perfect entertainer and gives a better watching experience in 3D.
What Could Have Been Better:
The script is not watertight and you may find some loopholes in the story. However, all that gets overshadowed by the amazing VFX and the epic battle scenes between Akshay and Rajinikanth.
Why You Should Watch the Movie:
2.0 is the perfect entertainer that is at par with the Sci-fi Hollywood movies we all enjoy. It is an amazing work of art that needs to be seen in 3D. Go book your tickets now!
