Verdict: This rib-tickling entertainer is a must-watch.

Director Ponram's 2013-released Varuthapadatha Valibar Sangam (VVS) offered a few laughs and introduced us to the incredible on-screen rapport between Sivakarthikeyan and Soori. The film featured an interesting narrative with a healthy dose of all things emotional.

Ponram's latest offering Rajini Murugan is equally, if not more, entertaining than VVS. The movie strikes the right chord with the audience, thanks to the lead actors – Sivakarthikeyan and Soori.
Rajini Murugan is a film that is high on gags and yet does not compromise on the flow of the narrative. One of the most-successful elements of a light-hearted comedy, is its timing. And, Sivakarthikeyan and Soori's timing is quite good. For instance, a scene where the two test drive an Audi car and crash it is a riot.
The film also incorporates situation and slapstick comedy where the protagonist – Rajini Murugan finds himself in sticky situations and it is amusing to see how he gets himself out of it. Like his previous film, VVS, Rajini Murugan's isn't a complex story, but rather, a simple narrative told in a compelling manner.
Just like VVS, this film also detours from the central theme, to offer some melodramatic moments. No one's complaining though as these are some essential elements in the genre.
Sivakarthikeyan delivers an excellent performance. His character is simple and aptly portrayed. His strength is comedy, and he uses it quite well. The on-screen chemistry shared by Keerthy Suresh and Sivakarthikeyan is superb.
The bond shared between Sivakarthikeyan and veteran actor, Rajkiran in the movie is whistle-worthy! It's too good to ignore. The antagonist of the film, Samuthrakani deserves credit. There's serious bromance brewing between Soori and Sivakarthikeyan in the movie and it forms the backbone of Rajini Murugan. The music by D. Imman is catchy, especially the popular track – Enna Ma Ippadi Panriye Ma
