Verdict: Indian cinema’s first ever space movie makes a good impression.
Tik Tik Tik is a sci-fi adventure thriller starring Jayam Ravi, Nivetha Pethuraj, Jayaprakash, Ramesh Tilak, Vincent Asokan, Arjunan and Aaron Aziz. The film is directed by Shakti Soundar Rajan and produced by V. Hitesh Jhabak under the banner Nemichand Jhabak. The movie is about India’s mission to save the country from an asteroid attack through a secret space mission.

What’s Tik Tik Tik About:

An asteroid is about to hit Earth and will be destroying four crore people in and around Chennai. The only way to stop the asteroid is to destroy it with a powerful missile which is kept safe in the Chinese Space Station. However, China refuses to help India, leaving the Defence Space Division (DSD) to do something illegal – steal the missile. Vasu (Jayam Ravi) is a local magician and escape artist who is imprisoned for deceiving the cops. He is hired by the DSD Chief (Jayaprakash) to be part of the secret mission. Vasu demands to have his partners Appu (Arjunan) and Venkat (Ramesh Thilak) in the team. The trio is trained by officers Raguram (Vincent Asokan) and Swathy (Nivetha Pethuraj) who are also preparing themselves for the mission. While they leave for space, an unknown person contacts Vasu through a secret channel and blackmails him to hand over the missile to him or Vasu’s son will be in danger. Would Vasu sacrifice his only son for four crore people or choose his son over the country?

What Works:

The charm of Tik Tik Tik is its VFX and the convincing set design. D. Imman’s music and background score are quite impactful and goes well with the movie, especially the title track. The actors have also done a very good job. Jayam Ravi shines as Vasu. Nivetha’s role beautifully syncs in with the plot. Ramesh and Arjunan handle the humor part well. Aaron Ravi makes a cute debut; the father and son duo look very adorable together and that is beautifully portrayed in the song Kurumba. Overall, Tik Tik Tik is a good attempt, especially when we consider the constraints such as a limited budget that it has managed to overcome.

What Could Have Been Better:

At times you can predict what’s going to happen next, but Tik Tik Tik makes up for it with a lot of twists and thrills throughout the movie. The CGI effects here and there have minute issues and those can be ignored.

Why You Should Watch the Movie:

It is not easy to make a Hollywood-level movie with limited resources and the makers of Tik Tik Tik have made it look smooth. This movie is for anyone who would love to watch something new from the Indian Cinema. Tik Tik Tik is a great entertainer and you should definitely catch it in the theatres.
